I can not go by experience but I’ve been to many different rehab facilities over eight years to know a good one from a bad one and one that’s just ok! The VA had me look at this place and although the people were friendly to us I felt that was just an act to get me to say yes I will send my loved one there. But first impression it’s a beautiful old building with a lot of charm and character. But the odor hit us when we entered and if I can’t see myself staying because of it not allowing him to be transferred there. He’s also someone with a brain injury and needs to be with people who will take the time to listen to him and I didn’t see a lot of staff when I was there interacting with the residents. If I can’t be there with him I want to know he’s going to be cared for and treated with respect. I read a lot of these reviews but granted they are from years ago and I do hope it’s changed since then. A facility is responsible for my mother’s death back in 2015 and I was unaware back then what to look for etc. The place was immaculate and staff was nice but the respiratory team didn’t do there job and they killed my mom unintentionally. I will never trust a family member in a facility and I’m always there but if I can’t be for just one day I want to make sure he’s getting the care he needs so I can be not stressed worrying if he’s ok or not.. please before you place a loved one check it out and ask as many questions as you can and if you have a veteran who needs to be placed don’t just let them put him or her just anywhere. DO NOT bring your loved one to this facility. It seems all they do is drug their patients to keep from having to deal with them. My father was being given pain pills 3 times a day, so when we would come to visit he was so high we could not have a conversation with him. He was sent here through the VA for a slip and fall and needed physical therapy. My first visit there I got into an argument with one of the “nurses” because my father was on the toilet and was asking for help off. The first nurse I found told me he needed to sit longer because there was no way he was done going to the bathroom. WHAT?! He’s asking for help. She responded “well then he needs to push the red button to have a nurse come.” I went back in the room to tell my dad to push the red button and a different nurse came running in YELLING at me to get out of the room and respect his privacy. I tried to tell him it was my father and he’s asking for help and he said “I DONT CARE WHO HE IS TO YOU get out of his room!” After going back and forth he told me to wait outside of the room and be patient. He also told us on a separate occasion he woke up at 3 am and buzzed for a nurse to help him sit up because he couldn’t breathe, the nurse told him it’s 3 am I’m not helping you up. If I could rate this place at 0 stars then I would. My mother was transferred to this place during COVID's beginning in March and her health quickly deteriorated from there. We would call to know how she is doing and the nurses (if they even answered) on the phone were very rude in their responses. Their job is to let the family know about the patient and it felt as though they did not care. They only called to give bad news and just say that she was in bad condition. When they started to transfer her over to hospice and say she was not eating they did not give any effort into giving her any food at all anyway. They provided no compassion at all throughout the process of her stay at this place. One particular day when I called to check on my mothers Health because we were concerned, the so called Manager, Crystal Spoke to us without Any care as we stated our concerns She simply said that "old people die". This has to be the most Disrespectful and uncompassionate statement that you can make to someone. No wonder why this place is under Litigation and I hope that you are condemned to the fullest extent and may justice be served to the Abuse of this terrible place.
