I really want to love old Taylor high. The concept is so cool and it’s a really fun space there are a number of small retail stores, a brewery, an ice cream shop, and a cute coffee shop. Each vendors space is well thought out and creatively designed. There is also a great outdoor area for the kiddos.
The big drawback of old Taylor high is the food and I will not be back until they figure it out. They have a ton of food trucks, but they never seem to be open. I’ve been out on a Friday and a Sunday evening and only the seafood truck was open. And they were out of fish. My family (including two small children) have to drive 30 min+ from Austin. I’m happy to make that drive for a fun place like this, but not when there is no way to predict the food options. Most of the food trucks don’t even have any hours listed online so it’s a total gamble.
I’m not sure how you can operate such a family friendly place and not have any food before 6:30 PM on a Friday or a Sunday. The Korean place is amazing and was definitely our savior, but it’s not the most toddler friendly.
I’m still giving this place four stars, because I really want them to succeed, but as I said previously, I will not be back unless it’s for a special event or until they have a reliable...
Read moreThis place is super cool and interesting if you're a fan of old architecture and nostalgia. Of course, this building is much much older than me but it takes you back in time. A very unique approach to retail and restaurant, and probably fiscally wise. Why waste this space? It still looks like a school inside, lockers and all. The restrooms are throwback. You can feel the history. Someone invited me here for lunch and we at at a deli right in the main hall of the school. There are other eateries and businesses. I intended to go upstairs but forgot after eating, but was told that there are other businesses upstairs and even apartments. Didn't see it for myself, but pretty cool. If you want to travel back in time and have a delicious meal, you should swing by. Amazing architecture on the outside of the building as well... untainted by unnecessary...
Read moreSo disappointed. Drove out on a Sunday to view the select very few shops that were scheduled to be open (about 7). We got there and only the bar, arcade, and a little gallery were open. The vibe was sad and people would walk upstairs and come straight back down. In the literal 5 minutes it took us to walk the building, we saw 4 other groups of people walk straight out. Maybe update the schedule of stores open so people dont...
