I had a profoundly positive experience receiving treatment at Jackson House Temecula. I had never been to a residential treatment facility before, and I was admittedly nervous upon entering. From my first interaction with a Jackson House staff member (being checked in by Sade) I immediately felt safe and cared for. Everyone, from the staff to the nurses to the counselors, treats the patients with great respect and dignity. The environment was very relaxing and supportive, and I felt very comfortable talking about my struggles to the people around me. The nurse practitioner, Richard, is fantastic and works hard to ensure that patients' medication regimens work for them and that there are no issues with their insurance providers. He actually put me on a new medication that completely transformed one of my most debilitating mental health symptoms. The nurses were very attentive when administering medications and taking vitals. The counselors, especially Jack and Ashley, were immensely helpful and would listen to me talk at length and advise me, even outside of our 1-on-1 sessions. I entered with a unique issue regarding my outside living situation and they supported me as I made my decision. The materials available to us during downtime, which included puzzles, paints, coloring books, crossword puzzle books, brought me a lot of comfort. The TV in the main area often played Disney movies or relaxing music (think those "Lofi Beats to Study to" type of videos) which contributed to my ability to really process some intense emotions while there. The group sessions centered around a variety of subjects, including anger management, forgiveness, dialectical behavioral therapy skills, self-esteem, and trauma. The lessons I learned at Jackson House helped me heal some old wounds I didn't even realize I was still keeping open.
My only criticism would be that the group sessions were sometimes inconsistent, but this was not always the fault of the staff as I was aware that other issues came up intermittently. I also think more outings would be beneficial for the group but I understand how this can be difficult to arrange. Besides trips to Kaiser to obtain medications (in my case), we had store runs twice per week to the nearby 7/11, and we also watched Inside Out 2 at the Temeku Cinema on my last weekend. I would absolutely recommend Jackson House Temecula to anyone in need of help at a residential...
Read moreI wish I had the experience everyone else with 5 star ratings did, but I simply canât. Let me list why.
Pros: -Classes weâre intellectually engaging and worthwhile
-Therapists truly care and were fantastic
-Office manager and transition team were great
-Access to phones, two TVs with tons of options, and computers albeit limiting access
-Routine bloodwork, checks ups, and vitals were awesome
-Common areas were kept nice and clean
Cons: -Wasnât allowed my psychiatric meds because they were in sample packaging
-Certain meds brought in were destroyed on site with no warning
-Certain personal belongings were locked up and unable to access
-Several scheduled classes simply didnât happen each day/evening. Ended up having less classes then even IOP program
-Interpretation of medication allowance was irrationally strict. EG Gabapentin every 4hrs only allowed in their scheduled block even though Iâm supposed to be allowed it during night or early morning by prescribing dr, nurses wouldnât allow.
-Heart medication and blood pressure meds had to be taken by interpretation of staff not my cardiologists prescribed intent. This made for very horrific BP and palpitation issues. I was allowed Norcos anytime but not gabapentin for my fibro
-Male showers could use more love and upkeep
âEvening nursing staff tended to stay bunched up chatting in a room for hours not engaging with patients outside med windows.
-Availability of certain snacks or drinks and cups very inconsistent
-Smoking/Vaping allowed only 5mins every 2 hours
-Psychiatrists not on site, use FaceTime and not able to see one until day 3
-Mattresses used were bad and stiff
So there was my experience. I really wanted to love this place and have it change my lifeâŚ.Management, select few nurses and counselors only reason to add star. Too much downtime and scheduled classes not done. 2/3 nursing staff shifts were great yet one was horrific. They was different engagement and strictness of med interpretation dependent on nurses at the time
I went from IOP to this place in hopes of a more engaging and serious experience, but ended up with less than my IOP program. 8-4pm was periodic engagement but outside that you just TV or sleep. In my opinion this is a tad too little engagement for impatient full time stay compared to iOP or PHP unless one is a suicidal risk or threat to society then impatient is absolutely necessary. Otherwise I...
Read moreBEST PLACE HANDS DOWN. I came in here absolutely spiraling, not being able to eat, going through the worst depression of my life. Unmedicated and an alcoholic. Because of their amazing psychiatrist Rich, I am now properly medicated and stabilized. And because of the amazing staff Eric, Shadae, Skylar, Kasey, Andi, Devin, Kennedy, Takia, Tessa, Carlos, Willie, Angelina, Bryan, Noah, Maria, ETC. I felt so at home. I mean they really do go above and beyond for you here. They donât treat you like youâre insane, or treat you like youâre less than. They treat you as equals. They laugh with you, they cry with you, they are there for you. And I couldnât be more grateful . Also shout out to the best counselors ever; Jen, Heather, Ashley, Janet, Kristen, Cody, Janelle, Cameron, Camille, Gabi . I couldnât have made it through my really hard days without them. I mean you need them, theyâre there . I highly recommend utilizing them when youâre there because they truly do help. Then you have Juan, who checks in on you constantly. He helps you set up for the next steps . He takes his time when it comes to deciding where you go, if you go anywhere, after this facility. And he genuinely cares. Because of him I have an amazing plan set up after discharge here. The food is reallyyy good, they have consistent smoke breaks, they donât take away your phones . The groups are really productive and you learn a lot through those and also just by the people around you. They have activities to do there such as ping pong, bracelet making, scrabble, karaoke, ETC. The list goes on. The rooms are clean, the entire place is really well kept. Youâre able to do a store run where you can get snacks once a week. They have a nice outdoor patio where you can socialize and smoke . I mean this place is like a vacation. I was able to get the help I needed , the guidance I needed, without it feeling like I was a sick patient in a mental institution. It really became my home for the time being there. Iâm forever going to miss it and the people there . I couldnât be more grateful to know about this place and have this experience . I genuinely donât know what I would have done without Jackson House. If you are struggling and need to get medicated, get stabilized, going through a rough patch, and just need general guidance , I HIGHLY RECOMMEND...
