Ordered a boutonnière two weeks ago via the owner with pictures of color needed and told her that the mother of our daughterâs date would be calling to have a corsage matched (she called the next day). The mother called today at noon to confirm her initial call (the day after my email) and neither the corsage or boutonnière were ready and she said they seemed confused and asked HER what color it was supposed to be. She confirmed lilac/purple with white. She picked up the corsage and said it was correct, but the girl helping her was not very friendly. However, my husband picked up the boutonnière and it was anything but correct. I wish I could post a picture of the two because the boutonnière was hot pink! He took it back after getting home and us telling him that it was the wrong color. I called the owner that I knew and asked what happened and she said they didnât have anymore of the purple roses that the girls were grabbing them and using them. I understand things get used, but this was ordered weeks ago. She was offering to give us any rose, but there are no PURPLE roses. đ¤ˇđťââď¸ It seemed insignificant to them as it wasnât a huge order, but IT WAS an order made WEEKS ago. I told her to just give us a white rose with purple ribbon and call it a day because it is already ruined, it is what it is and to close our account. That would have been good enough, but no⌠she waited until my ASIAN AMERICAN husband (born in America to an American mother and Asian father) walks back in and tells HIM to pick a rose and never come back! Who says that these days, especially when the owner is wrong? Well, I had already told her to close our account! We have used Poplar Florist for over 25 years with Jack doing our wedding, and things were even fine under the new ownership for a while, but lately has not been worth the money. Motherâs Day was another disaster. My husband was told that the arrangement should last a long time because the flowers just came in. Ha! They looked good THAT day, but the next day the roses had literally already dropped without even opening and other flowers were dropping off. I donât know whatâs going on, but as my husband told Molly, the owner, it falls on her as the owner to know whatâs going on under her. In this case, she personally took the order. I canât accept a two week pre-order getting royally messed up. I guess it wasnât a big enough order to matter. There is another great option in town that works with a popular cake designer that did our daughterâs 16th birthday cake (covered in roses) and their flowers were stunning and correct. Unfortunate that things have changed at the old Poplar Florist and really unfortunate that the new owner took the opportunity to tell an ASIAN AMERICAN man to never come back in front of her staff because of her/their mistake. Setting a good example for them in todayâs society and quite the audacity! What year is this? We already said close our account, but I guess a parting shot was needed to feel good about...
Read moreI am sorry to say that I can't recommend ordering through Maggie & Moe's if you are not local to Terre Haute, IN (which was my mistake!) There was a particular cat-basket arrangement they had advertised on their website which is why I ordered from them as a surprise for my cat-loving sister, but if you aren't local, they send the order and payment to a random local flower shop in the delivery area, and the woman I spoke with at Maggie & Moe's said they couldn't choose who would fulfill the order. (Side note: Unless the floral shop that is local to your recipient also has what they need to make that kitty basket arrangement, it ain't happening! They'll just offer to make a random arrangement instead.) In my case, Maggie & Moe's sent the order to a very low-rated florist (Flowers by Ranchview in Overland Park, KS, 38 reviews and 2.1 star rating). Bottom line, my sister never received any flowers, I spent $74.89, and I don't have any recourse because Flowers by Ranchview does not answer the phone. I called Maggie & Moe's several times in the first few days to find out what happened, and they said they would call the local shop to figure it out and get back to me, but they didn't, because I'm guessing Ranchview didn't get back to them either. They gave me Ranchview's name and contact number 12 days after the order was supposed to be delivered which is outside of the 5-day "not satisfied with your order?" guarantee window for both shops. I think I am out of luck. If Maggie & Moe can put pressure on Ranchview to get in touch with me and refund my order, I would be happy to replace this review with a more positive one. ("My sister didn't get her order from the local shop, but Maggie & Moe got in touch with the local shop and tried to make it right!") Unless you are local to Terre Haute, I would avoid ordering through Maggie & Moe's and just pick a shop local to your delivery area that has...
Read moreSo very disappointed in our local florist. Maggie & Moeâs Poplar Flower Shop & Decor We ordered an arrangement for Dadâs Urn for his funeral last Friday. We gave them the dimensions when we ordered them. Terry came in with the actual dimensions (he made the urn). They made the opening way too small. We had to take out many flowers from the sides and back for it to fit. We were not happy with how it ended up looking compared to how it came. I just went in to speak to the manager, Michelle. All she kept telling me was âwe were confused. We didnât know how to make it look right. We did not want to bother you on the day of the funeral to ask questions.â I wish she would have! We could have taken the urn to her. She was offended that I asked for her to make it right by giving us a credit. She absolutely refused. Telling me that we got $200 worth of flowers. Just kept saying Iâm sorry. Left after telling her that was absolute horrible customer service! We will never use them again, and we will let every single person about the bad service we got! So very...
