This is possibly the best place for prescription medication from a cost perspective. They aren't always the quickest, and they have a strange policy that they'll only apply GoodRx discounts once requested at the register. It is strange to me that they can't arrange this ahead of time because basically they bring all of the scripts ready to the checkout with one price, I then request to check my GoodRx Gold for the best price, the pharmacy tech then has to leave the checkout computer, go to another machine, check the prices, then print out new slips with the changed prices, repackage them, and then return to the checkout computer - all of this while the line behind me begins to get longer and longer.
I have to imagine that this has something to do with adjusting prices only if people ask for it, and the potential that some folks will forget and pay the first, undiscounted price hence to be most financially beneficial to the pharmacy's bottom line. (This is all purely conjecture, but I feel it is worth mentioning.)
Besides this one potential letdown, the rest of the shopping experience at Meijer is actually quite enjoyable. Stuff is easy to find, the prices are pretty good, and the self checkout is near perfect and very easy to use.
UPDATE June 2024: Just wanted to update my review. So after about a year of going to meijer, I can say that it still lives up to the high praise that I gave it whenever I did the initial review. I have found out though that some medications are cheaper at other pharmacies, it's a shame that pharmacies don't price match! That's probably totally against HIPAA and some other regulations and whatnot. But besides that meijer's the cheapest place to get just about anything from prescriptions to soda to gas, it's all very competitively priced. And the people that work there are very kind, helpful, and non-judgmental. Kris at the pharmacy is a really cool guy. He's always willing to help me figure out what's going on with my refills, applying Meijer perks, applying my GoodRx gold. He's just really easy to work with. (I hope I spelled his...
Read moreI have had several negative experiences at this establishment. I've encountered rude (they literally roll their eyes and loudly sigh if they are putting away stock and you attempt to shop for something in that isle & I have never had a single employee ask me if I need assistance or even so much as greet me for that matter...aside from an occasional door greeter) and dishonest employees (my daughter and I purchased several items that were not in our bags when we got home. When I called and enquired about them, the man I spoke to was very dismissive and even went as far as to claim he had watched security footage for that time frame and after-- despite the fact that he literally called me back less than five minutes after our initial conversation. I'm not entirely sure how he could've reviewed that much footage in such a short time, but I did not appreciate his less than helpful and accusatory disposition. Finally, I understand we are nearly amidst an economic crisis and that prices of everything have risen, but this place takes the cake on price increasing. My bill for grocery and household necessities is nearly doubled what it is when I shop across the highway at Walmart. I am a positive and forgiving individual, and I do not like to complain. I like to try and see the good in everyone and everything I can. However, I have given this establishment numerous chances to change my mind and have yet to have a positive...

Yet in the food section you could walk out with your entire cart because you can’t find a staff person over there to save someone’s life. Not even in the deli can you locate staff for assistance. HAVE LEARNED WHEN IN FOOD AND REQUIRE ASSISTANCE RUN TO THE NEAREST NON FOOD ISLE AND SHOW INTEREST IN AN ITEM YOU’LL HAVE SIX STAFF CIRCLE YOU THREE TIMES BEFORE YOU BLINK TWICE.
