Third and last review (4 stars to 1): We just went a third time and have decided to cross here off our list of places to shop for good. I was SO excited to pull out a handful of cards I wanted from their binders, but the guy (I believe the owner) wanted double their value. He tried to charge us almost $35 for $15 worth of cards. I put back everything but one card I really wanted and left even more disappointed than the previous times we went. To keep it short the products are scalper priced/gouged, a LOT of the nice full art cards are shoved in multiples into the binders without sleeves (make sure to check quality for this reason), the guy never budges on prices even if shown lower, the list goes on. Then we overheard the guy telling someone they don’t top load anything under $20 yet just about every single card in their cases that aren’t slabbed are penny sleeved (not even nice dragon shield ones or anything). Honestly, go to Gem Mint. They are laid back, professional, give out top loaders for free, are flexible with prices, and have amazing stock- they are a perfect balance of business and community. This place thrives off of overpricing everything all for the sake of profit. If you plan on doing business here, know in advance you WILL get ripped off.
Second review (summarized, 3 stars): Less impressed with the store and their prices. Only left with one card due to them overcharging for the others. Left feeling like they prioritize money over community. Hesitant on coming back unless as a last resort.
Original review (summarized, 4 stars): Friendly staff, okay prices, small store but lots of products. Can get very busy and claustrophobic to where people are elbow-to-elbow. Stingy with...
Read moreBrought in a full art umbreon vmax (evolving skies) retail price well over 1 grand— sent it in to get graded as well. I am a very big Pokémon fan and would say I know my stuff. When I walked in the guy took one look at me and decided because I am a dainty looking girl he was going to rip me off. I asked for 900 understanding he would talk me down to 8 or maybe even 7 hundred. He laughed in my face and told me retail price is not even 50 bucks. I told him I had it graded and showed him proof of it as well. He told me the price of the card went way down and I kindly decided not to sell it to that place. He told me it’s a very mediocre card and no other place will sell it to me. I love Pokémon shops I think they are a great place for nerds like me — I felt so unwelcome and embarrassed he made me feel so stupid. I understand they are a bisness and need to make profit but I would not recommend to anyone this shop. They will one hundred % try to scam you please...
Read moreThey have a really good variety of cards including the heavy hitters. Only downside is their pricing. Regular full arts are way to overpriced. Didn't ask about the bigger ones but I'm assuming those can't be marked up as much since their market prices are very well known at any time. Example being I asked about a $5 lucario card and they hit me with $10. Their reasoning was it's a really popular card. Same with a jungle vaporeon. They priced it at mint price when it had edge wear all around. Unfortunately probably won't be back as this was my experience both times I was there.
Edit: Got the 2 vaporeon jungle cards for $12 each in the same shape that theirs was in at popgun in Houston. So if you like paying mint prices for moderately/heavily played cards...
