I should have payed attention to the reviews before getting a membership here. I started it over a year ago but ended up needing to move very suddenly due to my father's major health issues. At that time (like 9 months ago?) I had at least $800 in personal training that I left unused, which I accepted as a loss, but I was very frustrated by the fact that the gym itself wouldn't let me cancel my membership over the phone or by Internet. Ive been paying for a membership I can't physically use since then. I happened to be in town last weekend to grab the last of my stuff and sign some paperwork so I stopped at the gym to finally get this thing cancelled. The guy behind the counter had me fill out a single line on a piece of paper and said I'd get call later in the week. I made sure to ask him if I'd be charged again and he said I would not because he would get it all entered that day; that was important because the debit card being charged had recently been stolen so I had cancelled it and gotten a new one. I probably should have realized that wasn't likely how cancellation actually works, but I had too much going on to worry about it so I just took his word for it. I did get a call a few days later... At midnight on Saturday. It appeared to be an automated message. I noticed a new attempted $90 charge this morning and called the gym to see what's going on. I was told that it takes 30 day notice to cancel even though I've been trying to cancel for like 9 months so now I owe for the month and the new annual fee! The dude behind the desk either had no idea what he was talking about, or lied. Since there's nothing they can do I'm now stuck with paying $120 plus whatever late fees they tack on. I am not willing to give them my new card info so that they can just keep charging me for as long as they feel like, so I guess it'll just have to go to collections and I'll deal with it that way. Do NOT sign a contract with this gym, they will bend over backwards to keep getting your money, whether you're still using...
Read moreWent as a guest with my buddy who pays for the top tier to bring a guest. One day he wanted to bring another friend who wanted to check it out but didn't want to buy a day pass or sign up for a membership. No big deal I signed up for a free trial membership for 7 days so they could join us. Come to find out as soon as I did that I then lost my guest privileges which they did not disclose to me at the time. They then made me sign up for a membership or told me I had to leave. The staff there for the most part is pretty rude. They really don't even acknowledge you when you walk in. I signed up for a 10 cent membership and got a t shirt but will be cancelling tomorrow because I'm not trying to pay $25 a month plus their $50 annual fee when my friend pays for the top tier membership and bringing a guest is part of his plan. Already found a way better gym. Don't waste your time with this place. Even the people who workout there are rude. Was deadlifting and a dude just came and took a plate that I was going to use and walked away. No etiquette whatsoever. They also want you to wipe the machines down after you lift but most the time the towel dispenser is empty which tells me that the machines get pretty dirty.
EDIT: Went back to try to cancel my cancel anytime membership and was told I had to wait 30 days. Place is such a joke and the manager was super rude about it. I will not step foot back in that place for another 30 days when I finally am allowed to cancel my membership. Hopefully I can actually talk to someone who is helpful unlike the lady who I'm assuming was the...
Read moreDO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE, unless you want to be tied to them for life. I had a zero balance, nothing owed, and called to cancel my account. I had just moved to Colby, KS over 300 miles from nearest gym. They refused to cancel my account unless I came in to the gym. Then they continued to try to charge me. Now I am having my attorney file fraudulent business practices and harassment charges against Crunch for their shady crap. I have multiple phone conversations where they condrasicate and try to bully me into not cancelling and trying to talk me out of cancelling, never just cancelling. This company will scam you, and steal from you. Also be wary of the Topeka branch on South Topeka Blvd, there are a couple of very large boys at this branch who are aggressive and will try to force you into uncomfortable situations. Update: After calling once again and explaining the situation to the manager at the facility that is closest to me, roughly 300 miles away, they again refused to be accommodating to the fact that 300 miles is not just a guick run over and take care of it situation, and refused to cancel my account. They have now been charging, or trying to charge me for 3 months of membership, that I have been unable to use, after I asked them to cancel my account. This gym is defrauding it's members and making it entirely unnecessarily difficult to cancel memberships. My attorney is now in the process of drawing up a class action against them for fraudulent business practices. If anyone else would like to be included in that CAL, feel free...
