Learn moreI would like to say thank you to the staff at Tuptim Thai. For you are the reason I had such a wonderful dinner at Monsoon Indian Grill last night.
Why would I thank them for a dinner I so graciously enjoyed at another restaurant you ask? Well, after being seated by the hostess, I had to wait SEVERAL (and I am being generous) minutes to even have my waitress grace me with her presence. Oh and she knew that I was there waiting, because she made eye contact with me (without greeting me) before disappearing to the back of the restaurant. I shouldn’t even say several minutes, because in reality, who knows how long I would have waited for her to return. After seven minutes, I left, never to return, ever again…
I also want you all to know that I have enjoyed great service at this restaurant once before, a few months ago. As someone who has worked in the food service industry before starting a career in another field, this is absolutely unacceptable. That is why I left after seven minutes and not five.
In actuality, I gave her five more minutes than I should have. She could have said, “Hey there, I have to run to the back, but I’ll be right back with ya!” I couldn’t even get that courtesy. Oh well… Such is...
Read moreAfter eating at many different Thai food places from all around Tuptim is still one of my favorites. They have a huge menu with many vegetarian/vegan options. My favorite thing to get is Tom Kha Soup (coconut soup) I get it at nearly every thai restaurant i go to and Tuptim's is THE BEST. So try it! We usually get something different every time we go and we're never disappointed, but their Pad Thai is a classic and blows away other Pad Thais. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is great but they are moving to a new location in January so I'm interested to see how it will be. The staff said it will be nicer and more roomy (not that it was ever cramped in the first place). As far as price goes, it is a bit on the more expensive side, but it's definitely worth it. We don't eat there more than once a week so its not a problem. Hopefully nothing changes with this restaurant as they move to their new location down the street or me and many others would be very...
Read moreWe had a great dinner at Tuptim Thai in Topeka! We started with the Tuptim Rolls – fresh rice wrappers filled with crab, garlic cream cheese, cucumber, carrot, cilantro, bean sprouts, and lettuce. They were incredibly fresh, light, and tasty – a perfect way to kick off the meal.
For my entrée, I ordered the Massaman Curry with chicken. It was rich, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. They offer four spice levels – I went with “Hot” (level 3), which was perfectly balanced with just the right kick. Next time I’ll be adventurous and try the “Thai Hot” level 4!
We also had the Basil Fried Rice with chicken, which was delicious as well. Both entrées came in generous portions that were very fair for the price.
The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, with nice décor and a sit-down dining style that makes it feel relaxed but still special.
Overall, Uptime Thai is definitely a spot I’ll be returning to again and again to explore more...
