Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Topeka

I have not been here in a while, I think of poor service before, and decided to give it another chance. Walking into the restaurant I got an unpleasant smell, like an open bag of dog food🤢. There were a couple people ahead of us and it seemed to take awhile for them to get their orders in. When we got to the counter to order the girl taking the orders told us it would be a minute. So we stood there waiting to order for a few more minutes awkwardly crowded with people that had placed their order before us. When the girl did finally take my order I ordered a family dinner and wanted regular tenders.She said they didn't have them and that they only had the spicy ones. Keep in mind that it was early in dinner service. I said ok that would work. I ordered the sides red beans and rice, Mac and cheese, and fries. I also wanted an extra side of coleslaw and was told they were out of that. I said fine. We then went to get our drinks while we waited. My kids wanted tea. Both kinds were out. So then we tried to get pop. The ice machine was not working. Then we found the only decent tasting pop was dr. Pepper. The others tasted nasty. We waited for some time before they finally called our order was ready. When we got our order back to our table I noticed we had no plates or silverware. I went back up and asked if they had any plates and silverware. The girl grabbed some cardboard containers and handed to me and walked away. I asked here again if we could get some silverware. She said they didn't have any. Kind of stunned I said you don't have any? She said they told me we don't have any. So I said how am I supposed to eat the sides you sold me? She didn't say anything and went to help the group of people that walked up trying to ignore me. Now I was angry I interrupted her and asked again Why did you not say anything before I bought the food knowing we were dining in? At this point I'm done and asked to refund my order. The girl rudely said no you already got your food. My patience had run out. I stated why did you not say you were out of stuff? We would have not ordered and left. I asked for the manager and aftering asking twice the manager finally came up. Neither the manager or the girl ever said sorry. The only thing the manger said to me was she asked how I paid and told me to put my card back into the machine and my refund would go back on the card 3 to 5 business days and walked off. After we had left my kids said they could see the manager was laughing with another employee in the back when I was asking about the silverware. Also while I was asking for the plates and the silverware, my kids said the Mac and cheese looked dried out and nasty and the fries were very soggy. Someone needs to find docs Time Machine and find the staff who opened up this Popeyes location and bring them back because not long after we stopped seeing the original staff...everything went to crap!! We love Popeyes food, and have since we lived in Texas so imagine our disappointment when we can no longer go to the Topeka location because not even the food is worth having to put up with the staff. Dress code isn't followed EVER, Staff is extremely unprofessional and literally act like children with no care who is in the lobby. Ice machine is broken most of the time and NO ONE ever says its broken when you order a drink so they hand you a warm drink once you get to the window, the menu is never fully available and they are always running out of menu items or like most recently, got up to the window and after waiting with no one greeting us for 10min, someone finally came and told us another item wasn't available and that the cook had just "told" them. So you're telling me that it took around 10 min after ordering for your cook to tell you that an item was no longer available?? and no they weren't busy, parking lot was empty and the only people getting out of their car were the people in the car in front of us who had already been waiting for their food and parked and got out, needless to say no one ever came back to get our payment so we left. The owner of this establishment needs to be held accountable for their poorly run business and really needs to either consider closing this location down or hiring a new staff including management. This Popeyes location is giving the brand a bad name. Not a memorable experience, or at least I hope I can forget it. I have been to this store a number of times, never been thrilled with the experience, but it is only a few blocks from home so we have returned. There was nothing good. To start with it was very busy, I can accept a bit of a wait, but after I ordered I watched the crew. I did not say I watched the crew work, because there wasn't much of that. I observed two green shirts which I recognized as management, and 7 regular crew members. One of the green shirts stood in fryer area the entire time, the other stood in front of the toaster premaking sandwiches. No one was in control or directing the crew. There was 1 cashier up front taking orders, off and on, and no one expediting orders consistently, just when they felt like it. I was becoming frustrated at about the 30 min mark when I watch a young man come in and stand in line, the crew member that had been filling orders walked up to counter and asked what he wanted to eat, he advised her and she filled the order and handed it to him without charging him. This person was not there for more than five minutes got preferred service and free food. What a slap in my face as well as everyone else that was waiting. Well, after 46 minutes I recieved my order and left, upon returning home I opened the boxes to find that the combo I had ordered had no side although it showed on my receipt as well as the fact that I was asked when I ordered if I wanted white dark or mixed, I advised mixed because I know that popeyes puts 1 leg 1 thigh 1 wing and 1 breast in a four pc. I recieved 2 wings and 2 thighs. Not anywhere close...
