I recently had my blood drawn at the Torrance lab location. I am a medical professional who knows that the tourniquet that the techs wrap around the arm in order to perform venipunctures (blood draws) should not remain tightened around a patient's arm for than one, timed minute. If it remains on a patient's arm longer than a minute, it can cause matter to enter into the blood stream and cause that individual's blood work results to read erroneously (ie., like a false positive or a false negative for having or not having certain diseases or medical conditions). False blood-test results can possibly lead to unneccessary or highly dangerous medical treatment for that patient/individual.
Well, unfortunately, while getting my blood drawn by a male Phlebotomist at the Torrance lab, he left the tourniquet on my arm the entire duration as he performed my blood draw. The thing is, I was so sick that I wasn't aware that the tourniquet was still tightened around my arm during the entire time that he was drawing my blood-which was way over a minute- until he was done with me. Now, I see that one of my lab results seems to reflect a false positive, and I may have to get my blood drawn again to make sure I don't have the falsity that my results is showing. This is so inconvenient for me and quite unprofessional of the tech who drew my blood to leave a tourniquet on the arm for too long!
I gave two stars in rating the lab instead of one because the other techs seem professional and kind. Just make sure they don't leave your tourniquet on your arm...
Read moreI had a great experience at this lab! There were only a couple people there when I arrived and they had me go straight to the chair to get my blood drawn. No waiting at all. The phlebotomist was very friendly and compassionate. The whole place was very clean and organized, and felt very comfortable. I was in and out within minutes. As I was leaving the helpful person at the front desk was assisting someone with the kiosk. I think it all depends on timing. They said they do get very busy, especially in the early mornings. So, going at 11a seemed to be a great time to go. My first thought as I was leaving was I'd like to write up a review for them because I read the reviews before going and was shocked at how different the experience was for me compared to the...
