Straub's Market — Local services in Town and Country

I love Straub’s. Today, however, I was super disappointed l. I went to the deli counter to get fresh chicken salad and fresh ham salad. The woman working the deli handed me pre-packaged salads. The chicken salad had an expiration date of tomorrow. If I wanted pre-packaged (not a fresh scoop) I would have picked a container from the pre-packaged section rather than waiting at the counter. Both tasted fine but not cool Straub’s not cool. If a customer goes to the deli they should get the time of the person to weigh out their request not handed a prepackaged (expiring tomorrow) product, This was a truly disappointing experience at a grocery I have loved a long time. This is a higher end grocery store with a deli and wine & cheese. Because it is not a discount store it does have a lot of different options but a smaller selection. They have a large rootbeer and craft soda section. The staff is extremely helpful and go the extra mile as the standard. The ice cream selection has pints of ben and jerry's for $5 -$6 but they also have some pints that cost more than $10. They also only have a small selection of prepackaged meats and cheese. I like to go here and browse through the alternative selections and while they may have 20 jellies they are only going to have one or two of each one. Not sure if it is related to COVID-19 but I always had best experience with their deli station except this last visit.

Ordered two grilled sandwiches. Few minutes later, was told they don’t have ingredients to make one of my sandwich so I changed to another one. Then, few minutes later, were told they again that they don’t have one of the ingredient for the other sandwich and asked me if they can use alternative. Overall, waited about 20+ minutes to get two grilled sandwiches. Was the deli busy? No! There were 3-4 employees behind the counter and no customer except me. Hope there was some disconnection due to COVID-19. If not, I may have lost one of my favorite deli...
