I attended The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy experience at Dipson Amherst Theatre this evening. The actors were very talented and entertaining. However, Dipson provided an extremely dull environment. No use of the big screen, no props, nothing like how it was advertised. The actors clearly did their best considering the circumstance. They even made a joke about thinking they were going to have a real stage to perform on. I'm so thankful I had the privilege of sitting in the front row directly in front of the performers, I would have wanted a refund otherwise. I'm giving the traveling troop a five-star favorable review. Dipson could have done a lot more on their end. Adequate space between seats and aisles, allowing for movement about the place. Rather short staffed, as bathroom needed more attention. Technical difficulties in both sound and vision on different days. To their credit, this was fixed in rather timely manner. The movie house has 3 theaters, all with very comfortable seats with extending footrests. Full service popcorn, drinks, etc. Admission price is $7.00 or $7.50. This is the place to go to see current movies as well as international and special films also. Possible to see some different kinds of movies you would not normally find in larger movie complexes.
