Update: Thank you for getting back to me. I understand there might be some confusion, I was never asked how I wanted my hair styled. She just did it. If the cut was good, I would put money that the styling would have been good too. Not once did I ever call Faith a bad stylist. I even stated that she probably is knowledgeable in curls, and was having an off day. Everyone has off days, and that’s okay. But, please do not put words in my mouth that I never said. My problem lies with the actual cut itself, which I said in the review. I mentioned that it wasn’t cut to compliment my hair. And looking at the pictures, you can see the hole in the back of my hair and the how uneven the front is. My hair was butchered, and that’s what I’m upset about. I just wanted a trim, which isn’t what I received. As a new client, I shouldn’t have to give multiple chances to a salon to make my hair look nice, especially with a simple trim. To imply that it is my fault that this happened is unprofessional, and overall rude.
Devastated seems to be an understatement. I recently moved to the Syracuse area and was really nervous and hesitant about finding a new hairstylist. Turns out, my anxiety was a warning. I meticulously researched the perfect place, checking reviews, making sure that they had someone who could treat my hair type. (for reference, I have added pictures of my hair before I went into the salon. They’re a bit older, but show my curl pattern) Then, I found this place. Perfect in theory! 4.9 stars with many reviews, and someone who has knowledge on wavy/curly hair! Too good to be true, and that was right. I went in on 04/11/2025, hoping to get a trim. I met with Faith, and she went through and I thought everything was okay, while cutting my hair. I wasn’t able to properly see because I am legally blind, but I was excited. The website said she specialized in curly hair and they have good ratings. But, then she started blow-drying my hair, without asking if I wanted that. Red flag number one. She didn’t use a diffuser or put in any curl cream or mousse. Red flag number two. After my hair was blow-dried straight she started cutting a little bit more. Red flag number three. At this point, I’m freaking out a little bit, but I’m trusting her. And then, she finished and I put on my glasses. I’m trying to grin and bare it, just because I know that she put time and effort into this. But, it’s not what I asked for. I asked for a trim, and I have a whole new cut. When she asked if I had any questions, I asked how this cut would look when my hair curls up. She seemed confused and shocked. Red flag number four. She responded with something along the lines of “I didn’t realize you had curly hair, I didn’t even seen the pattern, and I usually recognize them pretty quick” Now I’m definitely freaking out. She didn’t cut to compliment my curl, she cut my hair like it was straight. I’m trying not to burst into tears. As she’s trying to reassure me that it will look okay, she also mentions I have a few cowlicks. Cowlicks that weren’t cut properly and are now sticking up. I pay, I leave, I’m freaking out. The more I look in the mirror, the more uneven my hair looks. The more I realize how much this cut has butchered my hair. Hair that I have worked really hard to grow out. I tried to smooth it down, see if maybe pushing it down will help. It makes me realize how uneven it really is. Faith seemed really nice, and she probably is knowledgeable with curls. I’ve read the reviews, they rant and rave about her. And I understand that people have off days. But, this off day has turned into a huge insecurity for me. I have a baby shower to attend tomorrow, my anniversary date on Sunday, and a new job on Monday. I’m embarrassed to go out. I’m terrified of people seeing this cut. What was supposed to be a fresh start turned out to be a nightmare. The pictures with blue hair are to show my curl pattern, and how obvious it is, and the photos without the blue are the cut I recieved at Studio...
Read moreI received a package of 6 facials as a gift, purchased at the salon. At the first appt. my services were performed by an aesthetician who smelled like she had scrubbed up in a dirty ashtray. It was completely nauseating. The next 2 appts were done by Rayna, who was truly wonderful. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. After using only 3 of the six purchased, and being told that the services did NOT expire, the owner changed her mind. In fairness to her, it had been quite awhile since I was in last. Still, their record keeping is a mess. It took days for her to locate any info only to call me and tell me that she did not intend to honor my remaining services. The fact that this salon seems to have an unending Groupon engagement, should have been a red flag, constantly trying to lure in new clients using discounted services instead of offering a customer experience that makes people want to return. Response to Owner: 1.If you don't honor purchases past a certain date, you should clear that up with staff, as I was told that they do not expire. It was well over a year before I considered coming back for my second appt..strangely... no issues then 2. I would have the GC if I hadn't been told that I had to turn in it to redeem. 3. my bad experience was not from 5 years ago. It was from dealing with you this morning 4. your offer to come in for an appt was "if you are going to be mad, when do you want to come in?" really?!? Please do not try to defend your bad attitude and even worse...
Read moreWhat a FANTASTIC first visit!! My mother needed a last minute appointment, and I was having ZERO luck finding someone who would see her. Other salons either couldn't fit her in, never called me back, or said they were "walk in" only (note: it didn't matter that Mom has dementia, and doesn't "wait" very well). I decided on Studio 11 based on reviews, affordability, and the multiple services offered. Scheduling on-line was detailed yet simple, and the confirmations/reminders were not in excess. When we arrived, I found the salon to be very clean & spacious. Then, Faith greeted us with the brightest smile! Mom's hair was VERY overgrown; We discussed how she normally wears it, when her last cut was, and how often she usually has maintenance. With a photo for reference, Faith jumped right in! She was soo pleasant and patient - it was like we had known her forever. Faith made sure mom was comfortable throughout the entire visit, and even double checked to be sure how she likes her hair curled! Mom was so happy, and the smile on her face was priceless. I could not be more grateful for such an experience, and BOTH of us will definitely be visiting...
