(If you're moving to Syracuse from a different state then my review will probably be helpful.) We've lived here for about 2 years now and have been very happy with everything overall. Have only had to call maintenance for issues twice and both times they arrived quickly and made sure it got fixed the same day. Maintenance guys and Stephanie Coufal in the office are all very friendly and respond quickly to questions. When we first moved in I saw reviews on various sites bashing the management team but I have never experienced any issues with them - they've been nothing but friendly & accommodating. Automatic withdrawal of rent is really nice since it's one less bill to remember. Leasing rate is fair and we don't feel ripped off.
TOWNHOUSES: Not sure if it's just our townhouse or if it's all of them, but I have never heard either of our neighbors making noise through the walls. Maybe they're just super quiet but I think the walls are just really thick which is very nice. Like most basements there is some water that gets in when it rains but it's not a lot and in ours it stays along the walls until it goes into the drain - I recommend if you store anything down there to put it on some pallets until you figure out how badly (or if) it gets wet. Really the only weird/annoying thing we noticed upon moving in was that the family room and bedrooms don't have ceiling lights, so you'll need to buy some upright lamps for them.
SNOW: We moved here from the Midwest and have been really happy with the snow removal procedures they have. Maintenance comes around to shovel off the porch after big snows and they give you a free bucket of salt to use during the winter. They're very diligent about getting the parking lot cleared off and they come back through a few times after the snow stops during the work day to make sure parking spots are fully cleared out for people.
THINGS TO DO: We've lived in a lot of different places and honestly the best thing to do in Syracuse is to leave Syracuse. The Adirondack region (visit Lake Placid and the high peaks area), Finger Lakes (our favorite is Bully Hill winery), & certain areas of Vermont (like Middlebury) are all good weekend/weeklong escapes. There are some nice hiking trails close by as well.
NEIGHBORHOOD: Pretty much everything you need is 5-10 minutes away. There is an Aldi's & a Wegman's close by, as well as quite a few good restaurants near the lake like Limp Lizard & Rio Grande. The John Glenn Wegman's (5 minutes away) is by far one of the best grocery stores I've ever been in and is open 24 hours. There's also a family video nearby that seems to give out free movie rental coupons all the time. Kids are always playing in the townhouse parking lot so you'll need to watch out for them and hope they don't dent your cars with basketballs, bikes, etc (honestly that the only negative thing but it's not Saddle Clubs fault and could happen anywhere since kids will be kids). Neighbors are all friendly and will help out if you need a hand with something. Rent seems to be high enough that most of the issues that come with living in lower priced properties doesn't exist. There are a lot of apartment complexes in this area and quite a few of the lower priced ones end up in the news due to drug busts, theft, etc but we've never heard of or experienced this on our court while living here. The Onondaga County Sheriffs office has a very visible presence in the area as well so I assume if there was an issue that they'd respond very quickly. Very dog friendly property, we don't have one but see people walking them outside all the time and they do a good job picking up the messes.
OVERALL: Syracuse itself is awful to live in if you're not from around here due to the snow, high taxes on literally every aspect of life, dumb laws, gas station pump triggers that won't lock in place, etc but Saddle Club makes it very bearable. Would definitely recommend the property, current management team, & maintenance staff to any of my family/friends looking for a place to live if they were to...
Read moreWe are very disappointment since we were misled, we applied for a town house and we got approved and before we made the trip to see the property we got a phone call from the leasing office stating that there are people wanting the unit so in-order to hold it, we will have to pay a $300.00 deposit online and she assured us that is case we do not like the property it is a refundable and on the phone call I stated that we will pay if it’s refundable. And then since my wife was overseas we had to ask for clarification on the best way for her to sign it and it is documented via email on April 10th and still by April 25th we still did not get an answer, therefore on April 25th we sent another email that’s when she stated that it must been lost in Cyberspace the exact words that she used in her official email using the leasing office web portal signed by Taylor Cannon Leasing Consultant: ( I believe our last email must have gotten lost into cyberspace, yes it can be endorsed by the Arabic Prince that is no problem) Which we found very offensive, Arabic prince? In this age and time? Endorsed by Arabic prince? Needless to mention it’s not the matter of the deposit but the unprofessionalism and lack of work ethics not to...
Read moreI saw some pretty bad reviews on here about Saddle Club and I was worried. When we went to check it out, we fell in love with the place! It truly felt like home. The place we got was nice and spacious. I also loved that we could have a pet (for a fee) and pay monthly to rent a washer and dryer. Whenever we needed anything done, maintenance was always right on it! The office staff members were incredibly helpful and sweet. The only thing I would change about the place, if given the opportunity, would be to have an on-call security guard or something. I also like that they had quiet hours because it kept from people getting really out of hand. Generally the people who tend to complain about Saddle Club are most likely people who didn't pay their rent on time or were most likely evicted. If you pay your rent and are a good tenant, you generally don't have much to complain about at Saddle Club. We recently moved down south for me to attend graduate school but, we have already decided that if we move back to Upstate, New York we will be looking at returning to Saddle Club (hopefully the same house number too). We loved it there! Keep up the great work...
