Scheduled a 9:30 am driveline maintenance service, because I was overdue on differential fluid swap. This is typically, an inspection of things like your U-Joints, Differentials, and Drive Shaft. Swapping Differential and Transfer Case fluid, and grease where applicable on your drive shaft. Takes about 45 min to an hour if you have all the stuff to do it yourself. You can get it done at a Grease Monkey or Jiffy Lube for a couple hundred bucks. It’s not a big deal, all areas on the vehicle to be serviced are easily accessible. The only thing you have to take off is a skid plate to get to the Front Diff and the Transfer Case.
The guy at the front counter looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when he asked what I was in for when I said “driveline” and said when he saw my online appointment he didn’t know what I meant by driveline maintenance. That’s basically an exact quote. Then he told me since they aren’t a dealership they don’t use that terminology nor do they offer a package to have it done.
If you are unfamiliar with cars Google it, because that’s such a BS thing to say, and it REALLY didn’t instill me with any confidence that this guy knew what he was doing AT ALL. I typically do this work myself, but it’s been cold as hell and I didn’t feel like rolling around on the frozen ground for an hour, so I was willing to pay more than double to have it done to save me the trouble.
I proceed to sit for half an hour waiting on them to get the truck on the rack.. (I made an appointment because i have to be at work mind you) but OK, I’m here already, might as well wait.
When they get the truck up on the rack the guy comes back in and starts asking me about my spark plugs which were replaced about 10k miles ago… and absolutely not what I am here for. Then he starts trying to explain all the parts of the driveline ( I’m assuming after the mechanic explained it to him) and how they have to do a complete inspection of my vehicle to do this very simple service of a very specific area of my truck…
When I tell the guy that I just had the 100,000 mile maintenance done and my spark plugs are practically new, and I also express concern that this is not the service I asked for, he cops a huge attitude and immediately tells me I am free to take my business elsewhere. Ok fine, don’t threaten me with a good time. So I had them take the truck off the rack and left. Went on to work. Swung by NAPA on my way home, got Gear and TC oil and did the damn job myself.
I must say in all fairness, I had a very good experience here with a guy I’m assuming was the manager last year, when they did a state inspection, and I spoke to one of the mechanics on both occasions and he’s a good dude, but the young guy behind the counter on this visit has no business in customer service, and I think he probably lied on his resume if he didn’t known what the driveline on a vehicle is. Included is a screen grab from Google explaining what Driveline Maintenance is so that the joker at Monro can see that it’s not dealership specific and is actually a generally accepted term in most mechanic shops. Anyways.. won’t be coming back for routine maintenance or any...

I recently visited Monro Auto Service for a car inspection. Despite having new tires installed only 9,000 miles ago, Ryan informed me that the rear tires were worn out. He offered several options and allowed me to purchase the tires online and have them shipped to the store.
My car has wider rear rims and tires from the factory. Based on online research, I believed it was possible to install tires of the same size on all four wheels.
When I returned to Monro for the tire installation, Ryan informed me that the front tires were touching the springs and couldn't be replaced with wider tires. This was surprising, as many online sources suggested it was feasible.
I decided to keep the old front tires, which were still in decent condition.
I was charged $190 for the alignment and installation. However, upon leaving, my car's onboard computer displayed a warning indicating that one front and one rear wheel were inverted. Ryan assured me this was normal and the car would reset the warning.
I immediately noticed a strange noise when turning right at 90-degree turn. Upon inspection at home, I discovered that one rear rim was installed on a front tire and vice versa. I contacted Ryan, and he agreed to correct the issue.
I returned to Monro, and after a 20-minute wait, my car was supposedly ready. However, upon further inspection, I realized they had only swapped the rims, not the tires. This meant the rear tire was now on the front and vice versa. The rear tire was no longer touching the spring, as many online sources had claimed.
I was shocked that despite the obvious mistake, they hadn't taken the time to do a proper job. The difference in tire size was clearly visible.
I had to return to Monro a third time to have the issue resolved. I requested that they install the two remaining new tires, one on the front and one on the rear (using the rear rim that had previously been installed on the front tire). I had to explain exactly what they had to do to avoid further visits. I was charged an additional $60!
Instead of receiving professional service (that I paid for), I encountered a series of errors and inconveniences. I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious when choosing Monro Auto Service. So far they lost...
Read moreOrdered tires from Tire rack Had them shipped here as they are listed as a tire rack installer. Received shipping email stating tires were delivered. Called Monro who confirmed that they had my tires. Scheduled an appointment for install.
Arrived for said appointment. Was told I did not have an appointment. Attempted to show the email confirmation to the woman (I use that term loosely) at the desk who stated she did not need to see it because she is the only person who answers the phone and she did not have an appointment in her system.
She then said that my tires were not there and attempted to take my vehicle information (I'm assuming she was trying to hustle me by 'selling' me the tires that I already purchased that were in fact at their shop.
I told her I was going to contact the authorities since they were attempting to steal from me.
The woman (again, I use that term loosely) then walked into the shop and threw my tires into their parking lot, while laughing.
One of their greasy employees walked out into the lot, picked up my tires and threw them at me, then "bucked" at me as if he were going to assault me.
The police arrived.
Ended up 500 feet away at Walmart. They installed them within an hour and were accommodating and friendly.
Do not do business with this trashy shop. Not...
