Stayed here for one night while passing through on a road trip (we did have an advanced reservation though). Check in was easy and the front desk person was polite. We checked in around 9:30pm. The room was clean and had obviously been redone in recent years, but the problem was that the wall a/c unit had been off and we walked into an absolute wall of gross warm moist air. We hoped that cranking the a/c unit to as cold and as strong as possible would make it tolerable, but after several hours, it was still pretty warm in there. We were so tired from the trip, and it was quite late by the time we'd given it a chance, that it wasn't worth trying to switch to another room (that likely had the same problem anyway). We barely slept as a result.
Also, the breakfast was very disappointing. Hardly any bread products left in the 8 o'clock hour. No bananas, only some sad looking red delicious apples. I know it says "light" breakfast, but it was basically a few cereals and Nutrigrain bars. The coffee was very substandard. We ended up finding a nearby diner for breakfast instead.
Given the lack of other options in the area, it's fine and I guess we'd stay again if we had to. But it was a very uncomfortably warm night and I think they could have turned on the a/c unit ahead of our arrival, given we'd made the...
Read moreI had assumed that completing online check-in the day before would make the process seamless—unfortunately, that was not the case. We were staying at this hotel solely for a wedding nearby. Upon arrival, I was mistakenly given keys to a room that was already occupied by a couple and their child. Naturally, I returned to the front desk, where the clerk appeared confused. When I asked for a new room, she seemed unable to grasp the situation, but eventually agreed to reassign me.
The new room, 204, was labeled as non-smoking, but upon opening the door, I was immediately overwhelmed by the strong smell of smoke. Oddly, the room had a small air purifier on the nightstand, which suggested the hotel was aware of the issue. But still found it suitable to assign.
I returned to the front desk and explained that I couldn’t stay in the room, especially with my bridesmaid dress. The clerk, now visibly distressed, said she would check for another available room. Instead of using the computer system, she took her master key and physically checked rooms on the first floor. Eventually, she found another room, which, while smelling of mildew, was at least usable. By that point, I had no time to waste before heading to the rehearsal dinner.
I can confidently say I have no desire to return...
Read moreTough place, we were visiting Howes Cavern the next day so we picked this place because it was close by, what a mistake….After walking through the ashtray smell to get into the hotel, I asked the person at the front desk (very nice) if they had a pool, the place was kinda damp and smelled like wet carpet and chemicals, she responded “no” I asked if there was any water for the room and she responded “sorry, no, but there is a pitcher of water over there”. When we went in through the side entrance there was rough looking guy smoking cigarettes next to the entrance, he was kind enough to move to the side and smoke, but the hallway was already smoky smelling from that dude, I suspect. Our room smelled a little worse than the lobby, like a very strong wet chemical smell. It looked like one of the beds was slept in but made up to look clean, the lights between the beds didn’t work, neither did the bathroom fan, and the toilet seat was loose. It was late, we were tired, we didn’t complain, but it was a shitty stay, in a cheap motel, it was a bummer on the end of a great vacation. You’re better off staying at Howes cavern, it’s a little more money...
