We selected Shear Magique because a salon we were familiar with was unavailable. I must say we feel so lucky that we had the opportunity to work with them! Leading up to our wedding day the salon owner Lenore was responsive and patient as our wedding party decided what services they wanted. The options they provided allowed our family and friends to choose the level of 'do they wanted and the pricing structure was clear so nobody was surprised on the morning of the event. I scheduled a trial run and could tell that my stylist Tara was creative, conscientious and was really listening to my vision. On wedding morning their organization and efficiency helped me feel so comfortable and confident that we would all be finished in time to keep our day on track. Our group ranged in age from 17 to 75 and the stylists and makeup artists had us all looking great. A couple of people felt the makeup was a little heavy-handed, but I think when the photos come back they will change their opinions. For my part, makeup artist Taylor listened and constantly asked for my feedback to make sure I was happy with the final product, which I was. I don't typically wear makeup and she created a natural look, taking into account that I tend to get shiny and wanted a matte look that required quite a bit of foundation. Other people who requested less foundation were accommodated as well. My hair stylist Tara had clearly thought about my hair between the trial and event day. Ashley, the stylist who was next to Tara during my trial had even collaborated with her to develop a more effective technique for attaching flowers to my relatively short hair. On event day they both worked on my hair to make sure it was not only absolutely gorgeous, but also secure enough to last through a day that went from 11am to 2am. I cannot even count the number of compliments I received on my hair throughout the day. Several days later I am still getting texts about it as more and more guests are posting photos on social media. I can't recommend them highly enough for their experience, expertise and enthusiasm. They embraced our party's energy and helped start our day on a fun note and made sure we all looked perfect. As long as she gives some thought to what she's looking for and communicates her vision clearly I know any bride will be as thrilled as I was with her...
Read moremy appointment was months ago but i'm still mad about it lol i had Yamaris work on my hair and i scheduled coloring and a consultation she did no consultation barely asked questions on my hair (this is important for later :)) i showed her what i wanted and she went straight to a balayage idk why she didn't even say she was gonna do that but she did say she's gonna add bleach ok cool ik that's gonna happen but a balayage...i wanted some dark cherry red highlights nothing too crazy anyways while she was brushing my hair and parting it (it's long and curly) she's sucking her teeth and sighing and just looking like she hates her job or is having a bad day later on after the bleach is done processing oh no it's orange and blotchy!! bc i did have previous dye!! wow!! if only she had asked during the consultation i scheduled not to also mention that she barely even said what exactly she's doing to my hair almost all salon's i've been to the stylist says what they're doing and why it was feeling very unprofessional now on to the coloring portion the picture was a very clear dark cherry red and my shit came out orange copper so i said that's not the color i wanted and we had to add dye 2 more times (so wash and color 2 more times!!!) i finally end up some what with the color i want and the balayage looks decent but it's just not what i wanted on to the blowout portion which you would think is the easiest girly wanted to get out bc it was almost past closing so she did a half ass job on my blowout by the time i got home it was a frizzy ass mess and i had to fix it myself ik it says on the website she's a level 1 stylist but like you'd think something simple like what i wanted is something a level 1 stylist would be able to handle miss girl needs to go back to training or school or something and get an attitude check on top of that well lesson learned on my end i hope she also realized some things...
Read moreI encourage others to think carefully before booking here, as the results can have lasting effects on your hair for years to come.
I am very disappointed with my experience at this salon. While I appreciate the refund that was provided for my haircut, the fact remains that my hair was left damaged, and the issue was never properly addressed despite being promised a corrective service.
I booked a consultation for extensions as instructed by one of the stylists, who assured me that this would help fix the problem. Instead, my appointment was canceled without my consent, and I was told that the salon would no longer accept future bookings from me.
This is not the level of professionalism or accountability I expected. A customer who experiences a mistake should be offered a fair resolution, not dismissed. I hope this feedback encourages the salon to handle situations like this with more care and respect in the future My experience at Shear Magique was not reflected accurately in their reply. My haircut was in fact uneven and poorly layered, which their own head stylist confirmed in person before recommending I book with a specialist for corrections, including extensions. The suggestion of extensions came from the salon, not me, as a way to fix the visible damage. In addition, my request for religious privacy while wearing a hijab was disregarded, which caused me significant discomfort and was never addressed in their response. While I appreciate that a refund was eventually provided, it only came after multiple discussions, and I believe it is misleading to suggest my concerns were exaggerated...
