Long read, info on NUMC, Nassau police EMT + Govt.: Yrs. ago (still salty), we were taken to NUMC after a rollover. (Ambulatory at scene, car a 100% loss). NUMC not only failed to keep the 2 of us together (which I'd be less upset about by itself), except how they treated my passenger.: Made him *stand up while waiting to be processed though he has a bad back, and couldn't even stand up straight. (*Please read EMT section below) He has claustrophobia and did not want to use their enclosed MRI machine. Dr. threatened to admit him for 5 days before they would be able to transfer him to Bellevue hospital in the Bronx w/an open MRI machine. They intentionally lied about the situation, mislead some other facts & made the proposed treatment so problematic, that they essentially forced him to leave, A.M.A. They maneuvered the situation so they wouldn't be responsible or have to deal w/him. One nurse was 100% helpful & the only reason for even 1 star, but there wasn't much she could do up against the Dr. Never found the glass in his shoes he was walking on, I found it hours later. Yes, his feet were bleeding.
*To be fair, this was a failure of the Nassau police EMT who also made him walk onto the ambulance though they arrived on scene to find him holding onto a street sign to be able to stand, failed to seatbelt him en route to hosp., had him walk into the ER in shoes still filled w/broken glass, lied on my PCR saying he took 2 sets of vitals, had me flush my own eye of debris, & also tried billing us 2x for the same hosp. ride. (no, this isn't even everything)... but Google does not allow reviews of police, so I'm leaving this info here. The EMTs boss conveniently labeled my complaint as "he said/she said" & did zero to remedy the EMTs horrible actions.
P.S. Bonus FYI; learned that if one is hit by an employee of a Federal letter organization in a Federal vehicle, you can't sue even if you have contusions, abrasions, are bleeding or wind up w/years of recurring pains. You will probably recoup some $ for your vehicle, but the Federal govt. does not care about you the person. You have to have actual surgery & a special qualified lawyer to be able to even think of...
Read moreLast week, on 8/9/19, I had brought my husband here for an emergency situation and I had explained to dr. Khar, Dorian (I believe he’s a residency doctor) and William the Nurse, the experience my husband had endured previously going through the same procedure and how traumatic it was to him! I emphasized how I didn’t want him to go through the same experience again, nor will he stay there to let them! I pleaded that they be very delicate and to please do everything possible to eliminate the pain as much as possible! Dr. Khar, made it his personal mission to ensure that the procedure be performed as quickly as they could and gave my husband everything necessary to endure as little pain as humanly possible! The first experience took a total of about 15-20 minutes of excruciating pain and doing the procedure not once BUT TWICE bc of a miscommunication between doctor and nurse... in any case dr. Khar made sure William was fast efficient and successful, literally 30 seconds if not less! He as well as Dorian kept checking in on us, made the entire experience as pleasant as can be! If it weren’t for these 3 medical professionals my husband would’ve never stayed and continued his medical treatments and gotten better. They have restored his faith in hospital personnel, have given him the trust back that for the last year he lost and swore would rather do anything but go back for help to the hospital... they truly were magnificent! Thank you Dr. khar FOR EVERYTHING you did for him that night... thank you Dorian for being so caring and considerate, helping us understand EVERY step of the way and MUCH THANKS to William, your care was upstanding, you are one the greats William!! These 3 went above and beyond and I can continue on and on singing...
Read moreGo somewhere else. I've had nothing but issues with this hospital and haven't been there in years because of it. I went back today for logistical reasons and didn't go to Winthrop or LIJ like I normally would. While the PA and patient advocate were nice and helpful, there were numerous issues/errors.
The scripts were only signed off on by the PA and not the doctor. The doctor's name wasn't even listed. This delayed my prescriptions, me getting home, and me getting to take the meds I need so I can rest and get better by hours. The note for work was not in the paperwork I was handed, even though I was told it was. The patient advocate reached out to the admin, and they got it to me. I was told I could not put anyone other than a relative down as an emergency contact. So, they'd rather have no one listed than a partner you are not legally married to. And no, it wasn't a preference that I could override. The woman at registration straight up said no. You have to pay for parking whether you are there through ER or not. They say they don't own the parking lot, and the company that does doesn't care about why you're there. They just want their money.
That about wraps it up for now. Unless it's truly the only choice, I will...
