Dear Mina (Catering Director),
I fear that if I were to cover all the details surrounding the wedding plans , I would have to write a 10 page letter... that's because you did so much for Arman and for Jen and for us too.
Your attention to every detail, your consideration to making it work on so many fronts is incredible... from moving the reception upstairs, to helping us with the rehearsal dinner and helping us to do it on our budget, to getting Arman and Jen's input, taking care of Jen and Arman's bridal suite, organizing the time line and processional and even in knowing exactly where and how to place the petals around the chuppah footing... Everything and the many things I'm not mentioning or even forgetting, was huge.
Your crew too were amazing and thoughtful and helpful. Ally and Elaine and absolutely the magnificent Auggie. Many guests said the food was delicious and perfectly cooked.. The bar staff helped out exactly as we discussed. The after clean up crew were thoughtful and helpful, making sure we had our belongings to take home.
I certainly know that the best laid plans don't always work but of this I am sure: that staff is only as good as the person who leads them. And so you are a great leader Mina, with experience and a sure hand, you have helped to make this celebration for Arman and his bride a love-brimmed event - memorable and dear for our extended families and guests. Ken and I are so happy and pleased and appreciative of all that you have done to ensure such a happy moment in life for our family.
Thank you,...
Read moreReviews let you know what to expect — yes, Overlook Lodge is about a 20 min walk from Bear Mountain Inn, no there is no staff other than cleaning staff or maintenance crew on site. However I loved the location (and I was on foot — if you are driving, it’s not a big deal — and if you ask the staff for a ride and if someone is available, the staff will get you from one side to the other), for the sense of being within nature, fantastic view (note: some rooms do not face the Lake, if you’re worried about that, I guess ask?), and there’s even a service road short-cut (note: steep) to Major Welch Trail, the more scramble, mammoth rock type trail up to the tower viewpoint and continuing on the Appalachian Trail. Bedding felt super clean or even new, room was huge, little kitchenette w sink, Keurig coffee maker, fridge and microwave perfect for being self-sufficient and preparing foods for the trail. YES the bathroom is on the small side, which I didn’t feel as much (5’6”, medium build), but since other reviews mention it if you require a larger bathroom perhaps it is tight. I did see another guest at the Lodge who was a wheelchair user, so there must also be an accessible bathroom. Huge TV for relaxing in the evening. I had a great time. Nothing felt run down (as mentioned by others), staff were all super friendly and helpful (although note a lot of them said they hadn’t hiked the trails!). Trails are all well-marked. I lucked out with great weather, even the morning it rained. With enough lead time for the booking, I felt it was also great...
