The Appalachian Trail section at Bear Mountain is one of the most scenic and well-maintained parts of the trail. The stone steps make the climb easier, and the views from the top are breathtaking especially at sunrise or during fall foliage. Plenty of wildlife, peaceful surroundings, and historical signs along the way. It can get crowded on weekends, so go early if you want a quieter experience. Wear good shoes and bring water. Perfect for both beginner and experienced hikers!

This is the stairmaster trail and it takes you up to the observation tower. It's around 3.5 both ways. It's pretty hard if you don't hike much, but completely doable. There are a lot of scenic spots along the way. Coming down was pretty easy. This trail.is beautifully maintained and the steps are usually pretty straight and shallow so it's easy to walk down.

If going to the Bear Mountain Peak, take the Major Welch Trail to the top cause the Appalachian trail is long and only has steps which get really boring if hiking up. Coming down from here is quick and easy.

Decent hike to the top. Staff were very friendly. The trail isn't as clean as you'd like, unfortunately there was some litter strewn about. The peak had a great view--you can even see the NYC skyline...
