This is an updated review from my previous review of a few months back. The shelves are usually stocked, the isles are usually clean and although prices are continually rising, it appears ShopRite is doing their part to keep good value for their customers. I was a long time Stop and Shop customer, I still kind of am, but I do the bulk of my heavy shopping at ShopRite, particularly ShopRite of Huntington. It's a little bit of a ride, about 8 miles, with traffic it could be 15 to 20 minutes to and 15 to 20 minutes back. It's the value of the products and the people, management specifically, which I will elude to towards the end of my review. ShopRite now sports an all new digital coupon system. It was recently implemented and proves to be working out very nicely. The store is very organized and very easy to locate items. I did however, have a little bit of a situation, nothing crazy 🤪, but bothersome nonetheless. Here's the deal. I so love ShopRite's fresh cooked meals and especially the fried chicken 🍗. I haven't had the fried chicken in a long time and decided that I'd pick some up for dinner that evening. That would be the very last item I would get before heading to the checkout. I was psyched. Got home and put all the groceries away, washed up, retrieved a plate and set out to put my dinner 🍽 😋 plate together. I ate my fried chicken 🍗 but after the very first bite I could tell it wasn't very good. I tried another piece thinking it was just one bad piece. The second piece was as bad as the first and so on. I fill out the surveys every time I shop and come home with a receipt. In the process of filling out the survey there's a space to optionally write information and another to write as if you were actually speaking with the owner. I was courteous and well written as I described my experience. I completed the survey and didn't give it a second thought. I was however still disappointed about the fried chicken 🍗 not being up to standards. A few days went by and I received a phone call from the Manger of ShopRite 'Sean'.. I initially thought it was a prank, but quickly proved not to be. Sean asked about my experience and I explained in detail and even offered my suggestions to potentially prevent issues like this happening again. I also elaborated on my long time overall experience with ShopRite. Sean listened intently and had advised me that the next time I visited the store I could either have a refund for the experience or I could have an identical fried chicken 🍗 meal for absolutely no charge. I was so impressed that my comments and suggestions hadn't fallen on deaf ears and just enhanced my perception of ShopRite. I continue to shop at ShopRite in Huntington despite the 8+ mile trek, more so than before. Great experiences almost every time I go there and the checkout people are usually friendly and many times offer to assist with bagging. 🎉 I highly recommend ShopRite...
Read moreThis store run by the Greenfield family is something that our area has needed for very long time. After being disgusted by some of our local supermarkets with the stench of bleach in the meat department, shelves never stocked, even lackadaisical and sometimes even rude employees in the store, walking into this ShopRite you find a very different environment. The store is clean, people are actively doing their jobs not standing around talking the employees are courteous, kind and helpful. The store is stocked and has many wonderful items that I haven't found in other supermarkets. And I know that all of this comes down from the top. Staff is trained in a very certain way in Greenfield ShopRite stores. I've had the pleasure of seeing that for myself even in their very old store in Plainview prior to their new store in that community. And I can tell you from personal experience having met Mr Greenfield senior many years ago, that he believes in investing in the people that work for him. He trains them and gives them opportunities for growth and advancement. And even more difficult to find nowadays , management treats the employees with dignity and respect . And I see that with the employees in our new Huntington store. And I find it wonderful that there are still companies that believe in their employees. And that take the time to truly train them so that the customer experience is exceptional. And every time I've been in there so far it has been just that. If you haven't gone to shop in a Greenfield ShopRite supermarket it will truly open your eyes. I'm hooked!. Thank you Mr Greenfield, your family and all the wonderful people that you've hired to run the Huntington store. We really...
Read moreBeautiful store! At last, in Huntington Station, we’ll have the kind of one-stop shopping venue that is common elsewhere. I was delighted to find Sister Schubert rolls in the freezer section, a Southern classic. I’m sure uncooked Jimmy Dean Sausage is somewhere in the store, or if it’s not, I’m hopeful it’ll be there soon.
I hope that they install more weighing machines in the bulk buy section, so that consumers can use reusable bags to get nuts and candies, etc. A very nice store employee helped me weigh and label my purchases, but there was only one station and that’s not practical. In other parts of the US, I’m thinking in particular of the HEB Central Market chain in Texas, consumers have learned to weigh and label all their produce and bulk buys. This REALLY speeds up the checkout line, both in the self serve lanes as well as the traditional check-out lanes. I feel the store could have far fewer cake cases and more weigh-and-label stations, but maybe that’s just me.
The Central Markets in Texas got started because store managers noticed that their customers were driving all over to get different items for international foods. I’m delighted that Shop Rite has more international choices than is typical on Long Island. I found traditional Mexican chorizo, for instance. Goat would be nice, too, but that may be too much of a specialty item in...
