The deli was understaffed (during holiday season) when I visited this afternoon. There were two guys behind the counter, but only one helping the customers. There were two people ahead of me so the wait was long. I decided to do the rest of my shopping and return. When I did, I was happy to see there was no line. I patiently waited for the gentleman behind the counter to finish his task. He then took my order, which was just a 1/2 lb of cheese, but then he disappeared to take a phone call. I waited five minutes which may not sound long but it was! I then left to go talk to someone at the front desk. Incidentally, the other man behind the counter was clearly offering no support to the one person taking all of the orders and now a phone call. I spoke to a manager named, John, and asked him if they were short staffed at the deli to which he replied, “I didn’t think so.” I explained my experience and he walked away to see what was going on. By this point I had already waited twice and decided I wasn’t going to purchase the cheese, so I went to the self checkout to pay for my groceries. When John returned, he was surprised I was still there. He was completely unapologetic and told me if I had “simply waited” I would’ve been served. He clearly didn’t listen to the fact that I had already waited twice. In speaking to me, he referred to me as “dear” which felt completely condescending. When I brought that to his attention, he didn’t seem to understand why I felt offended and then referred to me as “Miss” in the same condescending tone. He did offer to give me something for free, but I told him I didn’t want free groceries. I just wanted to let him know that this man was working alone in the deli and as a result of the wait I walked away (twice). Silly me thought he might care. I definitely was feeling agitated because he clearly didn’t listen nor did he offer an kind of apology and was condescending. He said, “Have a nice day,” and dismissively walked away. I then ask the girl at the front desk if there was someone else I could talk to because I was annoyed that a manager handled the situation so poorly. She told me that his boss was Tony, who I learned is the store manager, but apparently there is no way to get in touch with Tony nor do they know when he’s going to be in the store. The best she could offer was to leave a note on his desk which I wasn’t going to do. What a frustrating experience and what a poor response on the manager’s behalf. From now on I’m happy to go across the street to Guintas, where their deli is always well staffed…and their produce is sooo much better! This store gets two stars because the pharmacy staff...
Read moreHave shopped here quite a few times. Word of advice. Know your prices and watch as items are rung up at register. I can't tell you how many times I've brought items that are suppose to be on sale but when I get to the register they ring up at the original non sale prices. Also if you go near the end of the sale days don't be surprised if they don't have the item in stock. That happens more times then I can count. If the store is going to advertise items for sale then they need to make sure they have enough to last thru the entire sales week and not just for a few days. The sales are what draws people in. And if they are out of an item they should be required to post a sign at the door and at the shelf location. And just this week they advertise Corned Beef on sale at a sale price with an additional $25purchase. Guess what ??? They ran out of all cuts of Corned Beef with 4 days remaining in the sales week. Not only this store but almost all of the Shop and Stops ran out. You've got to be kidding me. Yet they didn't post signs anywhere alerting people to that. In addition they advertise Beer on sale with manufacturer rebates and they normally keep the rebate certificates at customer service desk so you usually have to stop there to pick one up after checking out. But guess what???? They say they ran out of rebate certificates. Do you think they would post a sign near the beer alerting customers to this ????? Nope !!! So you either get stuck paying the full price for the beer or have to ask for a refund. Who the hell runs...
Read moreHonestly the quality of help is poor. They are a rag tag group of individuals that are hard to find when you need help in finding a item. I don't often shop here my wife does most of the shopping but when I do shop there its always disappointing it usually starts with shopping carts all over the place and not collected in a timely fashion and are blocking parking spaces. One particular item that we love has not been on the shelf for weeks I asked a clerk about it and said she would speak to her manager of which didn't I waited. During the winter I go to Florida and buy all my food at Publix the number one food chain in America I believe the difference between Stop and Shop and Publix is mind blowing. The service is impeccable, cleanliness, friendly, considerate are just a few words I can use for Publix. I cannot use those words for Stop and Shop. I understand it is the policy of this store to hire people that are somewhat challenged I applaud that policy but I would suggest that they hire some supervisors in order to keep the level of service at a...
