At Home — Local services in Town of Islip

Purchased an artificial Christmas tree at the Bohemia, NY location on December 30 for 50% discount. Got home, opened the box and put the tree together and it was an awful tree, one that we would not want to use year after year. The picture below is what I expected, but it was nothing like that. Specifically, it is the following product: B18 7.5Ft KerrigaNP UPC: 789112739755. We did not want the tree.

I then went back to the store on January 3, 2023 to return the item and was informed that the product is now 75% off and the refunded amount would be the current price ($60 less than what I paid). This is the store's policy on Christmas items and I was certainly aware of that, but appealed to the store manager Joe to do the right thing and refund the actual price I paid only 3 days earlier. Also, when I purchased the item, no one in the store, including Joe the store manager, informed me that in 2 days the price was being reduced further.

I understand the Christmas return policy, but that is designed to prevent people from using Christmas items and then returning them after the Christmas season. I was not that customer. I will be sending this review and detail into At Home management.

I was a first time customer at this store and I now regret making this purchase. The right thing to do is refund the amount I paid for this item, nothing less. Joe was insistent in his position and could care less about an unsatisfied or satisfied customer. Never again.

UPDATE 1/4/2023: I was advised to contact the customer care email as an At Home response to this review, I did that yesterday still with no response from At Home.

UPDATE 1/7/2023: Still no response from At Home customer care. I will not be going away until I receive a fair response from At Home.

UPDATE 1/16/2023: At Home finally responded to my email and offered a store credit which is NOT satisfactory, a full refund is the correct and proper way to finalize this transaction. Will update again here with next step taken by At Home.

Update 2/5/2023: It is now February 5 still with no resolution. Many words from At Home that this will get resolved, but I feel like I am getting the "run around" in a big way. Seems like internal processes are very ugly within At Home, or they are just trying to wait me out. This whole transaction is actually...

Hoping the review will bump their rating. For anyone complaining about the store not being open, you should've called first. We went the week they were supposed to open and met the security guard. He advised us they had a problem with the town and were not able to open on time. We were going to be in the area again today, this time I called and spoke to an employee who confirmed they are open now. I was told by another retailer months ago, when stores had shorter hours during Covid to never go by what Google posts about the store hours, the retailers only control their websites. Unless they have a business profile with Google. Best bet is to call.

I fell in love the moment I walked through the doors. You could spend hours there. They were more than well stocked, friendly customer service and reasonable prices.

Can't wait to see what Fall and Christmas decor they will carry...

The store is nice,my problem with the 2 experiences I had was, i got 4 chairs first time$24.99..no one offered to help...plenty of staff walking around,while i dragged them by the door ,ran to the car & put them in..They weren't that heavy,but thats not the point,its a new store,the staff obviously has not been trained to accommodate the customers..they just walked right by u..Second time I came back to get 2 more chairs, same thing,no one cares about the customers I dragged the chairs..but this time they were $29.99..( they're was a sign)in just a few days ..i said something to cashier, but what does she know,( i was not nasty,just asked about the price,when a few days ago it was $24.99)i got them anyway,when I got home I seen the $24.99 price on the leg...its not like its lot more money,its just the point...memorial sale,ok!!
