This is a favorite Door County shopping stop! Beautiful pottery is hand-thrown onsite, and very nicely displayed. You'll find bowls and vases, small and large, as well as mugs, candle holders, and lamps. In addition to traditional colors and patterns, there are amazing pieces with floral and Door County motifs. I haven't purchased something every time I've stopped in, but I'm always tempted! Insider tip: Since it's located in Ellison Bay, a bit off the beaten path, I've never found Gills Rock Stoneware to be crowded. And if you're a pottery enthusiast, the two other studios just down the road make it well worth the trip!

We stopped near the end of the day and right before vacation. The store is lovely with beautiful pieces. We make it a point to visit with local artists and find art to bring home. We were greeted by Thor and had a nice conversation, and felt like it was a connection to the county locals. Studio in the back was just so authentic.
