I inquired about a reservation for a group of 14 for a casual wedding rehearsal dinner. Mink River Basin was just south of Door Bluff Headlands Co. Park where my wedding rehearsal took place so it seemed like a good fit, plus we like a good bar. Never having been here before I asked a few questions about accommodating such a large group and whomever I spoke with said no problem at all, we'll set you up in the back room and I'll leave a note for your waitress about the intent of the outing. When we arrived, however, I was told there was no waitress for the back room and we instead were motioned to tables in what I'm assuming was the main dining space. I received very little explanation or apology for the change in plans. My group of 14 then ended up spread out across multiple tables and no longer could share in a celebratory meal together during my wedding rehearsal dinner. We even had to ask if we could move some tables together to have some semblance of a group; none of this was already done for us or at least offered to be done. Having been in food service for 10 years myself I'd of at least had a table of 14 set up elsewhere and if that couldn't of been accommodated, which ended up being the case, placed a phone call to share the situation so I could then know what to expect and have the option to find somewhere else to take my party, and if this too wasn't feasible given time, an explanation and apology for the change of plans upon check-in. I understand things happen and staffing has been rough for folks, but all in all it was a very cold and nonchalant experience with our waitress during a night that had much to be celebrated for me and others. Food was excellent, however, and service was prompt. Not being able to split tabs was a non-issue for me since the meal was on me. Cocktails and...
Read moreFirst impressions of this place from outside, were great. It looked fun with all the games, lots of different tap beers, and food options (we just stopped for a drink), but then we walked in. The website says “bar open late daily” so we stopped in for one drink just to check it out, it was 8:45pm. The place was empty, and the bartender seemed irritated that we even walked in. We got a very dry, clearly irritated “hi guys” as she actually walked away from us. We waited patiently while she hit her vape and did whatever, before she commented that “it might be dark but the bar is still open, what can I get for you?” Seeing all the taps, we asked for a list. At this time, a coworker was leaving and yelled out that she was going home, and she would see her next week. The bartender then went to the end of the bar where she had a conversation with the coworker as we sat waiting for her to get us a beer list. A few minutes went by before the bartender came over, and gave us each a beer list without saying anything other than “here you go” before she disappeared into another room. We got the impression that she wanted to leave and if we weren’t there she could close. I work as a Food and Beverage Manager and would be disgusted if any of my staff members treated potential customers this way. We were blatantly ignored, and disregarded, we were treated like we were a huge inconvenience, and the atmosphere she created was anything but welcoming. One thing I teach my staff is that customers don’t “need” an establishment but an establishment needs customers. This bartender is exactly how you lose your customers. My husband and I walked out, and honestly, I doubt she...
Read moreThe food could have been very good. We had a question prior to ordering. Our waitress said, I do not have time for questions, come on, come on, who is ordering first. Some of us wanted to order more than just one thing, but the waitress just went to the next person to order. One of us ordered a burger with NO mayo, and added onions to it. The burger came with a lot of mayo and no onions. We waited close to 20 minutes to send this burger back, and just ended up scraping as much mayo off as possible. After eating over half the burger, the waitress finally showed up and said, how is everything? We all replied, not good! She said, Come on, how can that be? We told her about the burger, and she said, well how come you did not send it back before you started to eat it? We replied, maybe because it took forever to get this burger, and you were no were to be found after we received it. Not only that, you made it very clear when you took our order that you did not have time for questions..... What was really ignorant, after all this the same waitress kept stopping back at our table muttering, you have sent it back before you ate most of it... Sorry Mink River for only the 2 stars but the poor service was unbelievable, and it was...
