What a great experience with Tom and his speedy roadside service! I was in Fleischmanns, NY for the first time for a long weekend in Oct 2020 with my wife and two young children. We noticed a flat before we were about to leave, it was the first flat in my life, ugh! We felt helpless and were in a cabin way up on a hill and not easily accessible. We called Shamros Tire & Auto Services, spoke to Tom, and he was at our cabin in literally five minutes in his pickup truck, we couldn’t believe how fast he arrived. He was so nice, he listened to me explain the issue, then he quickly got our car jacked-up and the tire off. After diagnosing the issue as a bad sensor on the external tire valve, he took the tire back to his shop, fixed it up, and arrived back to finish the job. Thirty minutes later we were ready to hit the road for the 2.5 hour ride back to NYC. I’ve heard horror stories about people having to pay exorbitant amounts of money when having a car issue, and Tom’s service was the EXACT OPPOSITE. We were shocked at the low cost of the roadside service. I offered to follow him back to his shop to pay, but Tom took our credit card number and said he’d run it later, saying if he had any issues, he’d give us a call. He texted us an invoice picture 30 minutes later for our records including the details of the new valve. What an incredible experience that we’ll never forget, being in an unfamiliar place, needing help, and Tom coming to our rescue. Chuck from Big Indian Towing also stopped by in case we were in need of a tow, but he and Tom spoke as they know each other, and they concluded it was a simpler solution. We have another trip to Fleischmann’s in three months and our positive memory of our tire and Tom’s assistance will certainly be a fun topic of discussion. Thanks again Tom, best wishes to you and...
Read moreSTAY AWAY!!! This was my local shop of choice but no more. Here are 3 separate examples of extreme incompetence over the last few years, starting with the most recent: 1] a couple weeks ago, AAA towed me home with an alternator problem so obvious that they wouldn't sell me a battery, but Shamro's did ($30 more expensive than others I found) while ignoring the alternator entirely. 135 miles later, the new battery died and I had to get towed all the way back again due to the same alternator issue. They promised to rectify it but didn't (I waited over a week, getting new excuses every day and then radio silence). Turns out they didn't even make sure the battery terminal connectors were clean. A formal complaint is being submitted to AAA. 2] about 2 years ago, needed a new muffler. They said they fixed it but the 'fix' was just a loose metal plate fastened with wire wrapped around the muffler (ineffective, dangerous and a flat tire waiting to happen). 3] about 4 years ago, they failed to use Loctite on a brake job causing the entire brake mechanism to come loose on the road. The owner talks a big game while trying to buy time or to justify cutting corners. WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE. HAPPY TO ELABORATE AND PROVIDE OTHER LOCAL...
Read moreHad a wonderful day at Bellayre Ski resort in the Catskills region (NY) with the family. When the snowstorm hit, my car got stuck really bad near the parking slot.
Soon enough, skiers/customers started giving me names to call for a tow and, top of the list, they all mentioned Tom as a reliable professional.
I called him and despite the extremely challenging road conditions he arrived soon. Tom was really skilled at clearing a path, towing, and getting my car back in work conditions. A truly expert.
On top of that, Tom and his wife (that was working with him that night), are super kind, competent and thoughtful caring and smiling to my kids. He made sure I was able to drive until the end of the road leading to the main road. This is really more than you can expect as a customer.
I truly...
