I originally was looking for someone that could supply me with hickory finished first grade. This was for my daughters cabinets she and I Weāre going to build. I need to backup, 10 years ago I had made hickory cabinets for our kitchen. I had found a lumber company in New England. At the time, I felt their hickory was unbelievable! I had to sand it with six different grades of sand paper. Our cabinets turned out beautifully. Well, moving forward 12 years, my daughter purchased a home and wanted her own hickory cabinets. I finished her attic, into a nice bedroom, gutted her bathroom to the studs three years later. She always bugged me to build her kitchen cabinets. I kept thinkingās of all the sanding, Itās one of the most important parts of woodworking, but itās not my favorite thing to do. Well, being 60 years old and know how many 4x8 sheets of 3/4ā cabinet plywood that Iād have to flip up on the table saw, I realized I needed to get going. So this brings me to the hickory wood I need. I fortunately drive by guiās lumber on the way to Brother of Mercy (this is a wonderful home, I must add), I stopped in and meet Denny, awesome wonderful person. I didnāt know all the lumber lingo, but Denny did and he helped me with the measurements. I had purchased $1000.00 of hickory over three orders. I didnāt want to get to much, but kept needing more. Never did guiās say anything each time I re ordered. They where so nice and fast at cutting and planing my needs. The hickory was beyond awesome! Grade was so clean and prefect. I had taken a place to Rockler to see what they felt I needed to sand. The Rockler employee looked at the piece and said, well you have sanded it so well, just need two more sandings. I hadnāt sanded at all, Rockler couldnāt believe how sharp guiās planner was. This was the best grade hickory I have ever seen and I work almost only with hickory, the best company (guiās), I have worked with. Guiās Lumber is a 10 plus! If you have a need for great service, finished lumber, need for any type of hardware supplies , and just down to earth old town help, drive by all the others and go to Guiās. Thank you Denny and all the staff at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came here once for some 2x4s and some plywood. The staff is very friendly. I just don't like the fact that I can't see the lumber before they give me it. The two kids that work in the lumber yard tried to give me terrible quality wood, the stuff no one probably wanted. I end up having to switch out all of them after it was loaded. I recommend Home Depot in Niagara Falls, their wood is better quality, you can see it yourself, and the pricing is also...
