I was from out of state on an extended stay on Long Island, and I was hoping to find a place to continue my lessons. Knowing no one and being of limited ability, I my goal was to just avoid ridicule and humiliation. I was pleasantly surprised to find the most inclusive and welcoming environment.
Look, I'm never gonna be great....But I'm 63 year old guy, single, coming from out of town, trying to make friends in the big city. Expected the worst.... That's not what happened.
The faculty, who I cannot praise enough, makes everyone feel comfortable. If you are a guy and you know some steps, you're in. And if you know a few steps, and show some commitment to personal hygiene, they roll out the red carpet for you, cuz you're a big-time asset.
The faculty are patient and knowledgeable, they sponsor every different kind of recital, exhibition, outing, party to showcase what you learn. There is zero competition, and limitless allowance for personal style, so, if you are looking for conflict.... you're in the wrong place. The folks there are just looking for a pleasant evening without becoming a part of the furniture. The students are mutually supportive and there is general recognition that few, if any, of us are gonna be seeing remuneration for our efforts.
I have found that walking under the exit sign as I leave after my lessons induces a form of amnesia, in which I forget everything I was taught. No matter, because the faculty is endlessly patient and persistently upbeat.
I was fortunate enough to take lessons from both Milena and Courtney, who were terrific in every way; talented, knowledgeable, demonstrative and enthusiastic. Mistakes are an expected part of learning, and are greeted with acceptance tolerance and a sense of humor. Eventually, all the faculty will introduce themselves, and take an interest in your progress (regardless of how slow) and offer tips and suggestions.
Overall, I highly recommend, 10/10, and while progress is often frustratingly slow, I've had more personal growth and camaraderie than I would have had I spent the nights watching TV with a 6 pack and a...

Read moreI came to the studio on a whim with NO experience and a desire to learn to dance and push myself out of my comfort zone and, nearly 3 years later I'm still dancing! The staff are so welcoming and make you feel comfortable and confident during lessons and group classes. Besides learning to dance I've met so many wonderful people. Not to mention dance is a great form of exercise and the perfect way to release the stress of a hectic day!
I was hesitant at first, having no dance experience, but my instructor, Chris, quickly put me at ease. His dedication to help you learn no matter what level dancer you are is evident. He has a knack for making me feel comfortable and makes every lesson so much fun while he simultaneously teaches me a variety of dances. His expertise, encouragement, and support have helped me grow into a more skilled and confident dancer.
The group classes Milena holds are a good way to practice and expand on my private lessons. Milena gives great instruction and makes learning to dance in a group setting easy and fun!
I am SO HAPPY I made the decision to dance at this studio and I would highly recommend taking...
