I will never be a patron of this bar and grill again. I am a big fan of karaoke and at first, Memories was an appealing place for Karaoke because it had a KJ with good equipment and a fairly spacious stage with paintings of iconic singers on the walls; As some people have mentioned it's for an older crowd, but that's no big deal to me since I am passionate about Karaoke and I had become a regular because I could sing a few tunes close to home and I was impressed with the quality of the microphones and Karaoke equipment.
On more than one occasion I had eaten at this place and I had brought friends and family to eat here as well. Because of medical reasons I cannot ingest alcohol but I ALWAYS made sure to buy a soft drink at the bar or my friend bought a beer while I belted my heart out (by the way, I am training to be a professional singer so the quality of my voice always impressed audience members). A couple of weeks ago, I decided to attend the weekly Thursday night Karaoke night and sang some Whitney, immediately after I finished, the KJ scoffed at me and said "You better buy a drink if you want to sing another song", I was absolutely appalled, I did not know that it was necessary to buy a drink if I wanted to sing and no one had ever told me that it was a requirement for participating in karaoke. I tried to call the manager twice because I was willing to give it another shot if someone could have explained to me why I was treated so abominably. I left two messages and once the manager evaded my call when I asked to speak to him.
I have now found another place to do live band karaoke in Bellmore, it may be more of a trek than Williston Park, but I'd rather spend my gas money to go there than to spend another penny at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a family member who is an alcoholic. This person has had extreme alcohol problems for over a decade, closer to 15 years. This person was about two years sober then the pandemic hit and it was too much and this person. This person has relapsed ever since, in and out of rehabs again. In and out of countless rehab countless times, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on recovery etc. this person lives back home now to get healthy again and this person relapsed tonight. Took the car to go to an AA meeting and was gone a suspicious amount of time. We called this person over and over, finally a bartender picked up and told us our beloved family member was passed out at the bar(memories). When we got there they couldnāt have been any kinder. They were sympathetic to us (hasnāt been my experience at other places this person has passed out in that I went to go to get them and bring them home) and asked if this was the first time. I said itās been a long time, hundreds of times, unfortunately. The bartender and staff were so kind In offering their understanding and support and even helped me take this person, covered in puke in the hair , in the shoes, pee etc. the staff helped us bring this person into the car and make sure we got our family member home safely. They even said if we see the person come again we will kindly decline service. I canāt tell you how much their kindness meant to me. I know a lot of bars that take advantage of sick people, make games out of it and even encourage them to relapse. Not these people, they are responsible and moral. I will never forget...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for open mic night, so it got more crowded as the evening went on. The waitress assigned to our table took a long time to bring us a dessert menu, and after we asked another server, he told us they only had one option for dessert - couldn't our waitress have told us that, instead of telling us that she would get a dessert menu - that didn't even exist!? Then there was an even longer span of time getting our check to us. Perhaps these servers are tasked with more than they can handle, but when people dine out, there is an expectation of good, courteous, prompt service. I do not blame the wait staff, as they are just young people trying to earn some extra cash. The fault is with leadership being short sighted with the insufficient staff numbers, especially on a busy night. Come out - talk to the patrons, explain the wait, offer a discount if needed... Anything to prevent a negative review! Food was great - no issues there, but the taste did not erase the feeling about the poor service. I would come back, but...
