I had been using the same Computer Service Company, located in Great Neck for over 20 years. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately we went back to their office and found that the shop closed up.

My computer would not complete a boot-up and then I could not get any visual display on my monitors. I had assembled most of my computer some seven years ago and although I had upgraded my memory and some other components over the years, the computer has been great. After talking to a number of computer people that I know and checking out the graphics card, it was suggested that I must change the motherboard. For those of you reading this memo you know that changing a motherboard with many years' data could be a disaster.

My data was backed up however; some of the programs would not work on a new computer so my final choice was to go to Henry's Computer Solutions in Port Washington. After Henry spent some time with me the over the telephone I agreed to have him to come to my office/home to troubleshoot the computer. I was asked me to pay a reasonable price for him to come to the house. I was certain I would have to replace the motherboard. Henry took my computer back to his office. Fortunately, for me the problem was much less complicated than I thought. The next day he gave me an initial analysis (he had left my home after 9:00PM). I had installed one of the early solid-state drives. The computer has four additional hard drives. Fortunately, for me the repairs were simple.

Henry replaced a solid-state drive and some memory and reprogrammed my operating system which had been updated a number of times over the past seven years. If Henry wasn't as professional, as he is, I would have been change for a number of parts and software then would have data and no programs to run them because they are no longer on the market. Try running some of your saved pictures from twenty to thirty years ago.

Hey look, I’m not a fan of Geek Squad- so I was relieved to find an alternative spot when I blue screened my gf’s laptop! She just started back to college! Timing... Anyways, Henry was one of the nicest strangers I’ve spoken with since having moved here from Baltimore two years ago. So Henry being as nice as he is I thought... there must be a catch... but no! He even tried walking me through any fixes I could do on my own, taking his time with me on the phone, would a GeekSquad do that?? You’re lucky if you get a person on the phone when you call them and not a touchstone menu. I’m not computer inept, in fact I’m usually the one helping fix the computer of others, but I really fried it this time. But Henry had it ready for pick up the next day for me! I literally asked if I could work for him, complimenting his refreshing professional courtesy, he just said “it helps when you love what you do”. This is the first review I’ve written of a place on Google reviews- maybe it’s deserving because I wouldn’t be able to write this if it wasn’t for Henry and my girlfriend would still be angry. It’s rare to find someone who truly loves working with people and that is what I found in Henry. Not only is he personable, he is super talented at what he does.

My problem started after an unsuccessful attempt at upgrading the OS on my iMac. After several hours on the phone with the “geniuses” at Apple, they had no idea how to resolve the problem. If I brought my computer to the Apple store, it would be weeks before I had it back.

So I searched Google and Henry’s Computer Solutions pops up AND as a bonus, he’s local in my neighborhood. I left a message and he called me back within the hour. And who makes house calls these days? Henry does. He came by, picked up my computer and diagnosed the problem.

Turns out my 2017 iMac needed a new solid state drive which Henry was able to install and update to the current OS in less than 24 hours on a weekend. He delivered the computer with a smile!

The happy ending is that BECAUSE I REGULARLY REDUNDANTLY BACK UP ALL MY DATA, I was able to be fully restored with the new setup. He said I was one of the rare customer who do that.
