My experience with this company was a never ending nightmare. I see very clearly now why the owner John doesn't take credit cards, because I think very many would contest the bill when the product is FINALLY delivered. Let me start off by saying he was by far the most expensive quote I got; but with that said, I was desperate to have the unit built by Christmas (a few years back) so I was willing to spend the extra money. BIG MISTAKE. When I called him a few weeks after I placed the order, the pre-Christmas commitment became "Yeah hoping so." I re-stressed the importance and a few days later, he was "moving it along as fast as he could," promising he was putting tons of pressure on the actual manufacturer MOUSSER (sp?). So, I called Mousser to stress the importance first hand and support his efforts, or so I thought, not only did I find out he never called them to rush my order, but that the order was only submitted just a few days prior to my call. Little did I know this was only the start of my problems.
The unit finally came and was installed and it didn't have the staining on it that it was supposed to, there was supposed to be stain applied that gave it a distressed look... Not only was it not there but he tried to tell me we didn't order it with stain, but thankfully when I presented a copy of the bill that he had hoped I lost, he acknowledged the error... And to fix, he had his assistant come and paint a HORRIBLE EXCUSE FOR DISTRESSING in the corners. We also ordered with exposed hinges and he ordered them without, this by the way was a more expensive option we paid for, he then came with cheap aftermarket hinges that don't even serve a purpose other than look like true exposed and functional hinges.
Before I forget, i asked that they not throw trash in my yard for my dogs sake and there were nails, sharp edged cut wood, etc all over the place. We were out there with a flashlight trying to collect all of the nails so that my dogs wouldn't eat one.
He didn't put in the venting system he was supposed to, barely communicated, lied, and the list goes on, you're only getting a few of the most major points. I had to have a lawyer mediate between us to get his attention which I have a gain lost which is why I am now writing, inane effort to save the world a similar experience with PACKARDS CABINETRY IN SEA CLIFF NEW YORK.
To keep this post fresh and keep as many safe from a like disaster I will update this post regularly. I thank goodness we have the freedom in this country to express - and John, for you to sue me for this post, you have to disprove what I've said and you've acknowledged it all in either emails or texts. Long story short, I paid $20,000 for a unit that looks like it could have come from Home Depot, with amateur accent painting now on it.
He agreed to pay me back $2000 of the money I paid him but has since stopped communicating. He made a few adjustments that were somewhat adequate but the effort I had to put into getting it over the course of over a year was ridiculous.
I implore people not looking for a year long fight to steer clear of this company, it is my hunch that he baited me and switched on me numerous times, selling me the more expensive exposed hinge and delivering me aftermarket faux hinges on non-exposed hinge doors. Oh, then he tried telling me I was so excited about self closing doors, which I couldn't care less about... it was just lie after lie, when I could even get him to communicate.
Will be back to probably give additional detail soon, maybe even photos of the text exchanges that catch him in lies. I just think of innocent people willing to pay for quality and what I had to go through and am still going through to set try and set this right. Very sad and regrettable experience. The only satisfaction I can achieve is to make it known which I wouldn't have had he refunded me honorably...
Read moreWhen my wife and I were ready to renovate our kitchen, we were lucky enough to know Rae and John and they asked if we would like their help. We agreed and we are so happy we did. They came and reviewed our kitchen and asked questions on what we would like in the kitchen. A week later we were invited to their Sea Cliff office where they showed us our kitchen. My jaw dropped when they were showing it to us and I remember saying is this our kitchen? I never imaged our kitchen having an island but she was able to get that in there and it looked gorgeous. They helped us pick cabinets and our counter top. They also helped us with our knobs and gave us great sites to find our faucet and sink. What I loved most of all is the placement of the draws and cabinets. Every one of them is in the perfect place. I love that I can take food out of the refrigerator and the island is right there. The in-draw knife holder is in perfect placement for us to cook and the garage is also in perfect placement. We had a corner area in the kitchen and they suggested a lemans and it is just perfect. There is minimal movement when we are cooking as everything we need is within a step or two. Because we took down a weight bearing wall we had to have a support beam run through our island. John suggested he match the wood with our cabinets. We did and it makes the support beam look perfect through the island. Lastly, now that the kitchen and dining room are one we have a radiator in the dining room and John made us a beautiful cover that matches our cabinets. They are true professionals and I can’t say enough how thankful we are that they helped us with...
Read moreWe are delighted with our new kitchen designed by Packard Cabinetry! From planning to execution, John and Rae Packard combined their years of experience and technical expertise to help us transform our 40-year-old kitchen – in a 100-year-old house -- into a perfect blend of style and functionality. They were not deterred by the quirks of our old house (built in 1919) or by its location in Wilmington, Delaware, to which they traveled multiple times to plan, measure, design, and ultimately install their beautiful cabinetry. Rae’s vision, precision, and creativity are unparalleled. And John’s vast expertise in custom cabinetry, construction, and design, plus attention to detail and communication skills, pair perfectly with Rae’s talents. In addition to providing cabinetry, they patiently advised us on a seemingly endless number of decisions that had to be made regarding appliances, countertops, hardware, trim, and other details. This was our second time working with Packard Cabinetry – the first being an excellent experience at a summer home on the New Jersy shore almost fifteen years ago. The second experience was even better...
