Seraphim — Local services in Town of Oyster Bay

I came to this tailor after reading good reviews on this place for alternations on dresses. I was looking to alter a bridesmaids dress. It took two weeks for the owner (only one working there) to complete it. I just asked for hemming of the dress as well as taking it in. During the first fitting, she took measurements on the helm of the dress, as for taking it in she did not. All she did was pinch (no markings or pins) the dress for measurements. I assumed that she knew what she was doing since she reassured me she did. Took her word for it - my mistake. I went back for a second fitting. The dress was taken out. She seemed confused making it seem I lost weight and it was my fault and kept saying ‘what happened’ - meanwhile she had made a mistake. The dress cost me $120 and she charged me $140 for alterations. The wedding was the Friday after - so panic set in. She said the dress would be ready that Wednesday. So I came in for a third fitting, the dress was not how I wanted it but I had no choice but to take it as is. I asked for a price reduction since she made mistakes. She refused and insulted my friend and I after asking for this and how said out of line we were for even asking. Disgusting customer service and I have never experience someone so rude. This was such an uncomfortable experience. At the end she gave me a $5 discount saying that is all she can do. DO NOT USE...

After 15 years, I will no longer be taking my business to Seraphim. On several occasions recently the owner Kay treated both myself and my family member with horrific rudeness. Kay expects that the first iteration of her tailoring to be the final product, even if the garment is still ill-fitting. She greets her clients scowling and has no compunction about telling a longtime client that she doesn't care to fix the garment beyond her first or second attempt. She literally ripped out the pins from my cousin's dress and told us to leave. My cousin needed her dress in two days for an important event. In all my time living on LI, I have never encountered a more rude business owner totally lacking in professionalism or pride in their work. Fortunately, I have had excellent experiences at Mario di Roma Tailor in Glen Head, En-Toto Tailor, Romans Tailoring and NK Studio in Greenvale. Loyalty took me back to Seraphim but deplorable customer service and poor work ended that. Do not take your garments to Seraphim. You will regret the shoddy work and abhorrent customer service. she does not like to do her job apparently. i’ve had multiple items that clearly need to be tailored in some way and she’ll refuse saying that they look fine, so I completely waste my time going there. she shortened the sleeves of a dress and when I got it back, they were entirely uneven on my body. instead of making one side shorter she refused to do anything that would fix it, blaming my arms being different lengths (lol) and saying no one would notice (it was extremely noticeable). it was a cheaply made dress so I believe her that the initial issue wasn’t her fault, but the fact that she wouldn’t do anything to fix it was unprofessional and a...
