Absolutely ridiculous. Called ahead of time today at 11:30 am to make sure I could bring my not mobile, less than one year old daughter to the zoo during dinner hours. We planned to leave well before dark. The gentleman who answered said, if I’m holding her, it’s not a problem. Okay, great. I could’ve found a babysitter, but apparently didn’t need one because I got the green light. Why would I question the person that answered the direct phone number to the Hilton Fire Dept? Wrong. We were told we would need to leave in a half hour when we got there at 6:00 pm. What? We called ahead, and we can go to any other establishment that also serves food and beer until at least our decided time of 8:00 pm at the latest. Nope. No one knew who would have taken my call at 11:30 am (how organized is that?) and they refused to allow us to finish our drinks and listen to the band in the Zoo before we left. Unbelievable. I’m from Hilton. My mom also graduated from Hilton. We now live here. And I am so ashamed and disappointed in the lack of understanding and the sheer miscommunication between their members. We brought a generous amount of cash to eat, drink, and play games, knowing it would go to our volunteer department. Do better, HFD.
