01/02/23: The Friday night before New Year's, we decided we were hungry for Chinese food. After checking with at least a dozen Chinese restaurants in and around our area, and learning that none of them were offering dine-in seating, we called Great Wall restaurant in Hilton and were told they offered dine-in seating without full service. That was good enough for us, and it turned out to be a great experience. The gentleman who took our orders was so courteous, polite, and accommodating to us during our dinner there. Really excellent service. The food was served up quick, hot, and was very tasty. Our serving portions of Moo goo gai pan and sweet & sour pork were surprisingly large and more than enough food for each of us. Our two dinners with beverages totaled approximately $24. Based on our first dinning experience here, we would definitely dine here again.
UPDATE 6/05/23: We stopped at Great Wall restaurant again for dinner on 6/03/23. They don't have full dining service yet, but you can eat your dinner in the dining room just the same. This was our second visit here and it went as well as our first visit several months ago. The man behind the counter who took our order this time was the same person who took our order on our last visit, and he was just as friendly, courteous, and accommodating this visit as he was during that last visit. Our food this time (our favorites Moo Goo Gai Pan and Sweet & Sour Pork) was served up fairly quickly. The portions were very generous and served VERY hot! In fact, the portions were so large, we had enough food left over for another meal. The food tasted delicious, and our host behind the counter made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal in the dining room. We saw a steady stream of take-out orders being picked up during our dinner there. Honestly, our dinner went as well as expected. There were no problems, and absolutely no complaints about the food or the way we were treated during our visit. Our two meals with sodas totaled a little over $26 before tax. I realize that everyone can have a bad experience at a restaurant. Based on our personal experiences during both visits to Great Wall, the food and portion sizes, we'll eat here again, and would recommend it. Thanks for reading...
Read moreI've gotta say, I've been coming here since they opened and I've never really had an issue, except maybe once in awhile they forgot to put rice in the pick up order. (We've always placed a big order for 4 people) You call to let them know, and you can pick it up on the next order you place. The only other issue was you couldn't get through on the phone line. After trying to call a few times we gave up. We didn't go in to order, because we had moved out of Hilton, so it wasn't right around the corner anymore. When I came into Rochester after moving to Florida, I always ordered from here. Gotta say, after placing an order late in the evening a few days ago and then having my daughter pick it up for me, by the time I got my food they were closed. I always get the steamed mixed vegetable (minus the green peppers and mushrooms due to an allergy) w/ chicken and shrimp. When I went to eat it, it had green peppers and mushrooms in it. I called the next day, unfortunately I had other things to do and didn't contact him till later at night, and he said, there is nothing I can do since you didn't call the night of. I explained that they were closed. He knows my family and my nephew, and he still wouldn't replace my order. I told him, I'm sorry to hear that, but I will NEVER order from here again. EVER. It's the principal of the matter. By the looks of the reviews I just read, I'm not the only one having bad service. It's a shame, we've enjoyed it here for years. Oh well. Times...
Read moreWhen I walked in to pick up my food, it was dead silent and completely empty on a Friday night...I quickly learned why. I ordered pork lo mein and I got something completely different. I was given Chow mein. I go in to explain what happened in an attempt to rectify the situation. Instead of being met with excellent customer service, I ended up arguing with the cashier going back and forth with a he said he said. Ending his last statement with, "well I can't help you". I said "Cool well you can keep this because I don't know what it is nor do I want it". My wife and I also got fried crab and shrimp fried rice. The fried crab was very good but the rice is minimal to no flavor with hardly any shrimp. The rice was also partially hard and undercooked. Out of any Chinese place I've ever eaten at, whether the mistake that took place was my own or the restaurants fault, the problem was always resolved without question. Better to fix a small problem to keep the customer wanting to return them telling them to "f off" and losing a customer for life. 100% DO NOT Recommend! Super job....we will never return. Truly...
