Very upset! I have been here multiple times in the last month. My fiance and I are redoing our new home and Home Depot is clearly a go to. However today was very upsetting.
Today I visited the store. I had questions in the lumber department. The guy that was working told me he’s busy and I have to cut the wood by myself. I’m determined to complete my project so I cut the wood by myself which I was not comfortable with. I understand there’s a self help area but I still had questions and wasn’t sure what I was doing. I ended up spending 40 minutes trying to figure out wood options, prices and cut it. I got to the register and the wood was wayyyy over budget. Would have been nice to get some help initially instead of wasting my time.
I then decided to put the wood back and just rent the carpet cleaner for my couch and rug. Rented the equipment and used it for about 20-30 minutes. I noticed the hose didn’t look fitted or properly clamped. That caused a small bulge in the hose line. I didn’t want to continue to use it so I brought it right back. All I wanted was a new hose or a refund for a machine they probably didn’t properly maintain. I rented the machine for 24 hours and the child working in the rental department tried to replace the hose with an even more broken one with tape around it. I had to ask him to plug it in to make sure it worked. I was worried about being responsible for any further issues. The boy told me I wouldn’t get a full refund basically that the hose line was my fault. My fiance asked for a manager 7 times before the situation escalated. Very embarrassing and disappointed. They basically told me it’s my fault. The boy was snarky and laughing in my face. This boy was literally my son’s age so it was very undermining.
Finally after a scene, a very respectable man named Gerard (the manager) came over and asked me what was happening. I explained the situation and he dealt and de-escalated the situation in 3 minutes. He was pleasant and calm and very helpful. This store should clone Gerard and make 1000 of him. I was very grateful he stepped in. He handled the situation with ease and grace. It took him a total of 5 minutes to handle a situation that was originally taking 20 minutes of back and forth. Thank you Gerard. This store gets a 2 for this situation, but...
Read moreStore is your typical Home Depot. Never an associate in site. Thank god for the app that helps you locate the aisle and bay the item is suppose to be located in. When you get to the location you realize as I did on many occasions that the shelf/peg hook is empty leaving you to go on a wild hunt to find someone. When you do find someone they will tell you sorry not from this department I’ll call someone for you. Typical would rather go to Lowe’s but that’s further.
Update 08/17/21 placed an order online guess what Home Depot somehow instead of shipping a 220 lb portable generator to the store shipped an air conditioner with my name and my order number on it. How dose that happen. They must have the finest idiots working for them. This is a second order. The first order placed online never got delivered. Some shipping company they use NDS kept sending my item all over. A month almost went by no item. So I contacted HD got a refund. Placed another order this time for store pick up. Went to picked up my order well instead of the generator HD online send a windows air-conditioner to the store(complete opposite of what I order). Like I said how dose that happen. Customer service at the store should verify items that they are correct and ready for pick up. I wasted my time had a friend waste his time because he was going to help me with set item. Not Happy Home Depot gave me 2 different discount but yet again my item will be late another week. Then again I’ll have to return to the store for a pick up and hope that set...
Read moreSO we went to The Home Depot today to buy a $2000,00 riding lawn mower.We asked the girl to send someone to talk to us about the mower,Guy comes over and says" I know nothing about lawn mowers so I'll try to help you but I probally can't" I walked back to the girl and said ok I need someone to help who knows about lawn mowers she said "no one from that department is here ..I asked when will someone who knows the product be here? she said I don't know. I asked about white glove delivery she said oh thats something you need to do on line we charge 79 dollars to deliver we can have it sometime next week not sure when because we have to have a guy from John Deere come in to assemble it they are in crates in the back.I said I see 2 it says you have 2 in stock on the website what are you going to assemble?? she tried to talk aroud that. It is a shame that we are being forced to do busniess at other stores or on line ..We left... NOW I know why people don't support the big box stores anymore.OH by the way we went to Adams Power Equipment the guy knew all about the mower and features They were happy to take my money and we will have it by Wednesday.So home depot I know my money will not make or break you but when this happens to enough people you will wonder what happened open your eyes or don't I don't care I'm donewith...
