Towne TV — Local services in Town of Rotterdam

We moved into a new house a few years ago, & needed everything (TVS, sound system, Internet, ) We went to Best Buy and then Hippos, but my neighbor said "check out TOWNE TV!"so glad we did,! Jevaughn was great, exceptional at assessing our needs! He didn't oversell us but helped with what we needed.We visited the showroom, looked at the TVs , asked a bunch of questions. They came to our home, measured, set us up with 2 beautiful big TVs , and amazing Sound system (inside out outdoor) Internet, Sonos system, programmed our smart remotes (and at a price that was half of what Best Buy & competitors quoted us!) Jevaughn set up the sound in our gym & theater in basement, talked to my electrician, & everything is perfect! Anytime we need help, they are always so responsive! leaving a review today because we ordered some new furniture and had to disconnect everything and Jevaughn FaceTime'd with us and got us up and running in about five minutes!! We are retired and being without internet is a challenge (we use Alexa and all the smart home devices, music and television --so our house doesn't function without the Internet!) Towne TV is the best and are so happy with our entire home system. So glad we went to see Towne TV & if we ever need anything, will always go back there! We would give them a 10 star review...

They quoted me of work at my house (replace existing camera's; replace TV; move equipment downstairs etc). 1st time dealing with them I checked some of their prices for equipment on internet, like amazon, and noticed tremendous mark ups some double the price for same item that amounted to thousands of dollars added to proposal. After advising them I would like to buy some of the equipment and they can charge me their labor, Mickey (think he's an owner) advised me they didn't want to go forward with my work stating his company survives on the profit from equipment even though he had $4,000 of labor in quote that I ad no probelm paying. Their costs for HDMI cables and Misc costs thrown onto proposal are extremley excessive. I wanted to replace my DVR for camera with a DVR that had good storage. He advised Maximum storage for Watchdog system would be 3 TB or I would have to move to a 16 Channel system. I called Watch dog and found out they had a 6 TB unit for their 8 Channel system and better DVR. I assume they maximize their profits by selling what they had available not what would best fit their customer. They weren't rude in anyway but my advice to anyone would be to ask for model and do a simple google search to make sure your not paying excessively to keep their profits...

I didn't end up proceeding with this company for a number of reasons: I had to call and then follow up twice to finally get ahold of someone to give me a quote to install a wall mount for my TV. Their quote to install a basic $40 TV mount from Amazon and my little $100 special 40" TV was quoted for 2 hours of work for 2 techs, totaling out at $350 just to install the wall mount.

I. Was. Speechless. Someone must have had crack with their cheerios this morning because they've got to be high to give me that quote with a straight face.

I ended up hiring a handyman with experience and insurance locally, who literally had the mount installed in 20 minutes by himself and less than 1/3 the price. He had all the fancy tools for the job and was extremely technically inclined, which I imagine is on par (if not better) than what Towne TV would have offered.

The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because I didn't actually use their company, so I feel it's unfair to completely drop them without actually seeing their service in action. However, based on the experience I got over the phone, combined with the price quote, it was more than enough to scare me away from here permanently. I will just go to BestBuy when I'm ready to...
