I love our local theater. The owners and staff are great people, and do their best to satisfy all movie goers as far as selection goes. People complain about snacks and drinks being over priced, I don't see it. If you've been to a large cinema complex, it's $5 for a normal size box of M&Ms, our local theater is priced much better than that. I would say all prices are pretty reasonable. Movie prices are pretty reasonable as well. Honestly though, if you want to see the movie, you pay it either way. I highly encourage locals to come to this theater as opposed to traveling.
They offer midnight showings for massive movie releases, like Star Wars or Harry Potter. They offer 2D and 3D showings. Usually week 1 is in 3D and week 2 is in 2D. If it's important to you. I honestly hate 3D movies... Anywhere. Just not for me. If I want to see a movie opening weekend I just suck it up.
This theater gets a great selection of children's movies throughout the year and they tend to show "Oscar Movies" during the corresponding season... Typically Oscar season runs from October to January, then between January and February they show the selections that weren't widely released until the new year. Typically if you want to see it, they will get it. Check their updated website, Facebook or give...
Read moreCharming historical theater right across the street from some great restaurants. Stopped in on a whim during my weekend in Tupper Lake and was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable ticket prices and inexpensive concessions! Also learned they do FREE POPCORN ON TUESDAYS WHEN YOU BRING YOUR OWN CONTAINER..small theater but plays current releases and I LOVED that they actually play the feature film within a few minutes of the posted showtime, unlike the big theaters where you spend 15-20 min just for previews. Also thoroughly enjoyed the retro concession commercial with the dancing & singing snacks "Let's all go to the lobby..." just adorable and nostalgic. Would definitely recommend and return when I'm in town again :) *note: the theater can get pretty chilly, something I really like but for those who get cold easily or would be uncomfortable definitely layer up or...
Read moreI've hesitated a review because I loved this old theater! In its heyday the theater must have had a lot of class but it smelled so musty and the popcorn tasted awful. My thought was for this sweet community to come together and start a capital campaign but then I saw in the paper the art gallery may have plans and that was so exciting! Although we do not live in Tupper I will try to keep on top of this progression. Good going Tupper Lake...we have seen you blossom in the last few years and can't wait...
