It's really been a shame to see how Can Man has gone downhill, even before the pandemic made the hiring process difficult. I remember there was a point where there would be 3 sorting stations open at a time and operations ran smoothly and kept the line moving. The past few times I've come here with cans and bottles have been horrible. I try to come early to beat the line but there is perpetually several people ahead of you due to lack of staffing inside.
I'm not sure of how to amend this issue. The "express lane" for smaller orders was a nice idea. However, the second to last time I visited, that line was being actively ignored. This last visit, it was closed all together. I know that there are some facilities that also offer the service of you counting the bottles & cans ahead of time to avoid hassle--this could be beneficial.
I stopped by this morning but I ended up just packing up and leaving because I didn't have hours to burn just standing there, swatting at the wasps that were swarming. I went to another redemption center instead and had a much more pleasant experience.

After 25 minutes they began to process my bottles. A few of the bottles were craft beer bottles from NY Breweries and they would not accept them even though the cans were stamped NY 5c. Not only did they not accept these cans, but they also charged me 10 cents per their policy to dispose of them.
The attendant would not return the bottles to me again as per policy.

Read moreSo my disabled girlfriend spent 3 days sorting 1710 cans and bottles, totaling $85.50, or so she thought... After two "large Burly" men exited the truck, tallied up the counted cans, came to the total of 1712, two glass bottles were removed no deposit, she received only $42.75 exactly half the value of the cans. Personally I feel the need to call my Attorney General, and file complaints on this to the Bbb. But I'll vent my frustration on this matter and maybe the business will actually reimburse her for the cans that were STOLEN FROM HER. If The Can Man respects their customers this will be fixed....
