Cinnamon Stick — Local services in Town of Urbana

When we come to Hammondsport the two places we make sure we visit is The Village Tavern and Cinnamon Stick. I’m the past I’ve purchased many gifts and treated myself with your nice items. This year…nothing. This was Sunday and again on Monday…(thought I’d give you a second chance)…BOTH days I was the ONLY customer and absolutely no greeting, no smile, one employee appeared upset that I was looking over the piles of boxes she was unpacking at an item I was interested in.

I’m from a small town and our businesses extend hospitality to survive. Not pushy - but greet EVERYONE and let us know they are there for us.

I would love to give this place better scores for their quaint, charming decor and place. The service was horrible, unfriendly and seriously lacking enthusiasm for customers. We encountered no greeting, no looking up from what they were doing, no offer of assistance , nothing. I called the next day to chat with the owner , and I was coldly received, and told on the phone that they weren’t available and was hung up on. They’d probably do twice as many sales if they had friendly, engaged staff working for...

I was politely told that the store was closed for about 10-15 minutes for deliveries when I entered the business. Normally, that would be weird, but when I returned about 15 minutes later, one of the co-owners actually thanked me for hanging in there (not an issue at all for me). So I decided to check out the store anyways because of that kindness/respect and it is a nice store. Honestly, I felt bad that I didn't buy anything, but time was short and I still had a 4 hour drive back to my hometown...
