River Mall Plaza — Local services in Town of Van Buren

Tops Market is the "anchor" here. Has a liquor store, Chinese, and thrift store along its adjoining strip. Now, if they could only get a useful tennant into their long vacant PizzaHut there (like a Panera or similar) - we could update then maybe upgrade this ("okay, but nothing overly exciting/special") rating, accordingly.

Edit to add: They did try to attract more "traffic" for a brief period 2024 by leasing to a "rub & tug" Massage Parlor "Asian (true practicing happy endings it turned out) Spa". However, BVille's finest caught wind & combined with State Po-Po to raid and shut them down fairly quickly. ...Back to North Syracuse for that type of traffic/clientele again.

Butterfly Liquors expansion & upgrade in the facility to now being a full-on liquor marketplace - has been a very nice improvement to the space. The old Pizza Hut that fronted the parking lot directly on Downer has now (as of 6/2025) been redesigned & fully renovated into a large Marijuana...

The parking lot is a giant square. The plaza is basically L shaped. The traffic going in and out is steady and safe. Three stop signs for crossing is highly visible and well observed. Inside the giant squared parking lot is a complete "enter at your own risk” . People go very fast between tops, to the bank, or to cut across to hit the gym. There are traffic patterns painted, but they are ignored. So, if you go watch out for 4 major things: fast, non thinking drivers, illegal parking (Don't park in fire lanes!) that is constantly happening at Tops alone, pot holes that will eat your vehicle, and the wonderful sounds of seaguls, just waiting to drop something...

This "mall" has a lot of potential!! Sooo much space for businesses to build and have retail space here. Its unfortunate that this has not happened yet. Nothing special about here at all. There is a Tops grocery market, parking lot is Extremely dark at night, a chinese food place where the customer service is horrible, treat you like "why are you even in here" and a hardware store doesnt really have too much. And last, a barbershop and a liquor store. And Bottle return so to call this place a "mall" is an...
