$200 for a tux rental that they don't have to have ready up until 2 days before, butyou have to return the very next day after the event or be charged $20/day+tax. How many can make it the NEXT day after a wedding reception? How much money do you suppose they grift from their own customers?

Shampagne was very helpful in picking out our tuxes for our wedding, from the shoe color to the jacket sizing. This location is very helpful for prom weddings etc. They have all the latest styles for all occasions and the staff is very polite and helpful!

A little over a month ago I was unexpectedly called home (from Oregon to upstate NY) as a result of my father falling ill and entering the local hospital. Sadly, he passed away five days after I arrived.

In my haste to pack and fly to NY, I neglected to bring many clothes. This meant I needed a suit to wear to his funeral. The day after my father died I visited Mens Wearhouse (in Vestal, NY) to rectify this.

Upon entering the store I mentioned to the woman who offered to help me that I was not in a good frame a of mind as a result of my fathers death. Basically, I told her that whatever she recommended I would buy without question. And unfortunately that's what happened.

Distastefully, while trying on some jackets the sales person asks me several questions about how my father died. I found that a bit sad (personally) and morbid. She also mentioned a few times that she wanted me to buy a suit that I could wear not only to a funeral, but also on a date. I still have no idea what those comments were all about?

The only thing I questioned during the entire interaction was the fit of my suit coat. I felt a bit tight. I was assured, however “That's how it's supposed to fit.”

By the time I left the store I had bought one suit, two shirts, two ties (there was some sort of “buy one get one free deal with the shirts and ties) and a pair of socks (I bought shoes in another store). The total cost was just shy of $600. I was also asked (or more like badgered) several times to sign up for something call Perfect Fit. At one point I seriously thought they wouldn't allow me to buy the suit and leave unless I did so.

I returned the next day to pick up the pants which needed tailoring. I tried the pants on, but in my still very much off frame of mind neglected to put my shoes on, and only checked the fit of the waste.

The next day, in preparation to attend my fathers funeral I put on one of the shirts I bought. It was easily a size too small. I did see, however, that the other shirt was a two sizes bigger. It, unfortunately, fit like a tent. Figuring the small shirt was the less sloppy looking of the two I chose to wear that particular ill fitting garment. The pants were yet another surprise. They were about one to two inches too short. Essentially they were “high water” pants. And likewise, I also realized (with a now slightly better mind set) that my jacket was far too small. At the funeral, several members of my family inquired, (delicately, of course) about my poorly fitting choice of clothes. The best I could say was “I'm sorry. I wasn't well when I bought these clothes.”

About a week after I got back to Oregon I finally unpacked and saw the suit and shirts. I then realized how cheap and poorly made the suit, shirts and ties were. They were, by no surprise, made in China (the suit) or Indonesia (the shirts and ties). They were certainly not worth $600. I'd estimate (with great generosity) their worth to be $150-$200. I have since donated everything to Goodwill. I want nothing more to do with those shabby clothes, or for that matter Mens Wearhouse.

At best I'd rate the people who work at this Mens Wearhouse are completely incompetent. Or at worst they are that special sort of evil (that takes advantage of people when they are most vulnerable) for which the Devil is reserving a special...

Do as I say, not as I do. I ignored the negative reviews and I regret it, as a matter of fact I'm still irritated. We went into the store in June or so to have the groom, one other groomsman, and our ring bearer measured at this location for our wedding in September. We had 4 others being measured at other locations. The initial measuring process seemed to go smooth. However just a warning, you will be paying the same amount for a suit rental as you will for the ring bearer, which they were VERY misleading about. I believe our party ended up canceling and buying one much cheaper. We were all told we would receive notice via email when the suits were in, except one who didn't have email so he gave his phone number.

So time went by and about 2 weeks before our wedding, I was getting word that other groomsmen were picking up or had picked up their suits. So I called our location to ask about the grooms, and I was told his wasn't in. About another week had gone by, I called to check again. A man answered and didn't even take any information, but instead just told me that it was guaranteed to be in no later than the Wednesday before our date. So that Wednesday came and went, and I checked any and all emails that we have access to and we still had no notice. So Thursday morning, I called as soon as they opened, and gave them the grooms name that the rental was under, and I was told that it again wasn't in. I asked to speak to the manager, who was able to not only find it, but informed me that it came in OVER A WEEK PRIOR. I explained my frustrations to her, and she apologized.

So later that day, I picked up my fiance from work and he went to try the suit on. The women at the front desk again struggled to find his tag when we got there and found it under another initial which more than likely had been the issue the whole time. So he went in and we were not at all happy with the fit. We've had much more success buying off the rack with no measurements just recently. So the girl helping us who I believe to be the formal wear manager, said she would check with the tailor and it would take about 20 minutes. She came back and said she was at lunch so it would be about an hour. At that point I explained to her everything that had happened before about the numerous phone calls and she apologized. We were leaving for the wedding the next day. It wasn't possible to have him come back down to see if it fit. So we decided we would TRY to come back we ended up coming back about 10 minutes before they closed.

I'm most upset that we were left to coming back less than 24 hours before we were leaving to make sure that the GROOM'S suit fit. After finding out that had they not dropped the ball repeatedly, we could've come in over a week prior and got it taken care of. Anyone planning a wedding or that has in the past can imagine how annoying and stressful this is. I wouldn't use them for anything again. Its not only expensive but clearly they are unorganized and there's for sure room for improvement.

Almost forgot to mention that the other groomsman using this location ALSO didn't receive any notice either and was ALSO left to last minute fittings and alterations. Get...

Stopped in to get a Tux for a High School Prom. With a line multiple students deep, there was only 1, yes 1, female working. The staffing during a busy season was less than adequate. Fast forward to the visit to pick up the ordered Tux. Stop in store, sign in as instructed, and begin the same dreadful wait of, once again, only one associate working. Then were were told to go to counter to complete transaction. Thinking it's be that easy, not quite. Paid final deposit on Tux, then back to standing in line. In the meantime a woman and her son walk in, ask for a specific associate that had not been helping in this area the entire time. He immediately comes to help her, walks her to Tux rental in front of EVERYONE standing in line, turns and says we'll be right with you. Keep in mind, he never offered to help any one of us while we were waiting and he was folding clothes. 😔 Finally get to try on the tux and the sizing was off and needed additional tailoring, the tie was ordered incorrectly and had to be re-ordered, and now we were in store for a third less than desirable visit. We finally got what we ordered, 3 visits later, and more money later... it was my first and last visit EVER to this store.

For a company that specializes in Tux rentals and Sales, they are dis-organized at best. If you go here, plan on spending no less than an hour, and maybe even more, and have extra cash available. They are slow, sales reps are not very knowledgeable, and always seem annoyed. There are better places to go, and Kohls (same parking lot) definitely has better quality products for sale, at same price you'll rent...
