Itâs unbelievable how horrible the management is at this complex. The owner, who I was told is named Sharon, harassed and yelled at me twice today. ROC Spirit held a cheerleading competition here (their staff was so lovely and helpful), and Iâm a cheerleader with a service dog for my disability. Before my mother and I could even walk into the event, Sharon was demanding certification papers from me and telling me it was a huge liability for me to have my service dog on the turf - where the entire competition was being held and where I was required to be in order to compete. I quickly let her know that she is not legally allowed to ask me for certification nor separate me from my dog, as proven by the American Disabilities Act, which I showed to her on my phone. My condition is stress-related/induced, so at this point I was shaking so badly I could barely stand. After storming off and not returning, the woman running the competition asked us what was wrong, and after hearing our difficulties, told us she would take care of it and let us into the event.
About an hour later, my mom and I took my dog outside to go to the bathroom just to be cautious (she is well trained, but had never been on turf before.) Upon return, a staff member told me that I could not take her onto the turf. After explaining that she had already been in there and we presumed it had been taken care of, we went back in. Soon after that, I took my dog with me to the extremely overpriced cafe ($7 for a small smoothie?), where Sharon stopped me again and told me I was not allowed to bring my dog onto the turf for âsanitary purposes.â She told me I couldnât compete and that she was going to call the police to have me removed. I told her she was welcome to do that, so she stormed off yet again. I was left stranded in a corner without my phone or my mother, as the supervisors at the entrances would not allow me inside to get my things. I had to wave down a member of my gym so she could let my mom know what was happening. My mom came out and we waited for about ten minutes for an employee sent by Sharon to tell us that I was allowed on the turf with my service dog. So, we went back in and were, yet again, stopped by a worker who told us the owner had given her specific instructions not to let me in with my dog. We explained several times that we were JUST let in, but she insisted that she was not allowed to let me on the turf. We brought her back out to speak to the supervisor who was told to let us in, and were finally allowed in again.
Between the ADA violation, Sharonâs hostility, disrespect, and blatant ignorance, the disregard for my safety, and the severe lack of communication between staff members, this place should be shut down. Please, be aware of your rights and do not give this establishment a second...
Read moreAs is unfortunately the case, Pinnacle Athletic Campus seems ill-equipped to handle bullying situations at its summer camp for kids. The owner called to place blame on my 65 pound 8 year old son, when a few 11 or 12 yo boys, much BIGGER, boys, were pushing him, name calling and throwing balls at his head; and she didn't like it when I stood up for my son and told one of her employees I would hold them accountable if it happened again. This is pretty common in organizations that have had ZERO to little training in bullying awareness and prevention. I don't know if they have had training there or not, but the reaction from the owner would indicate to me that they don't. I was going to take my 2 kids back tomorrow, we paid for the entire week, in the hopes that the staff would be more attentive and aware; but after the phone call from the owner, and the fact that this is the second time this has happened this summer, it happened the first week my kids were there also, I believe my children's well being and safety is better served if they don't don't go back. This summer my family has been discussing joining Pinnacle Athletic Campus in the fall, but that's not happening now. I hope they appreciate the money we paid for a week of camp for two children that we will not be using. Update - 2 days later: Got a call from the Ontario County Sheriff telling me that the owners of Pinnacle Athletic Campus had called them and that they, Pinnacle Athletic that is, do not want me back on their property, or I would be arrested for trespassing; not that the thought of going back had crossed my mind. Or are you just mad now that you are seeing my reviews on a few websites? In my opinion, and that's what this space is here for, the owners and management of this company have now shown on two levels, they are clueless on how to run a business. BTW Pinnacle, I am sorry that you became so upset and frightened to the point of calling the Sheriff, in my being mad about the situation discussed above, maybe in your world parents shouldn't be concerned for the well-being of their children - or maybe you just don't like to be challenged when something bad happens in your facility? Can't wait for the new Pittsford Y...
Read moreCorporate greed/mismanagement mar the fantastic staff/instructors
Why you shouldn't get a membership right now: *They CLOSE shower facilities during peak times (and after classes) for sports events, *They cut/change class schedule changes due to a recent uptick in employee turnover *They overbook the facility - you won't have access to the basketball courts at night
Pinnacle management either doesn't listen to employee/member feedback or care more about booking the facility for more money (I don't know which is worse). It is clear that the management doesn't care about members and doesn't take constructive criticism. At the least, they could easily reschedule classes so they don't conflict with when they close down the locker rooms.
OTHER CONS:
*Not as many treadmills/equipment as other gyms such as Planet Fitness. *The Wi-Fi is practically unusable now. *Not open at night. *More expensive than budget gyms, at $45/month for full access ($25 for the courts/fields?)
PROS: *Incredible fitness classes that push you at the appropriate level. *Classes often feel like 1-on-1 training sessions with great instructors -Instructors are the biggest draw to the gym - some are that good! *Lots of space in off-peak times.
Why you should listen to me: *Iâve been a member since May 2016 *I've attended at least 200 fitness classes, *I've run at least 100 miles on their track, *I play basketball about...
