No other canned tuna, other than homeade, compares to Katy's Smokehouse Tuna and canned King Salmon. I have tried most all other brands of canned tuna, and nothing else meets up to the quality and taste of Katy's.
Starting with the quality and size of the can; this heavy, quality, "old school" can, is made and built to last, so you can store this canned tuna, or King salmon for a very, very long time, without degradation. The tuna is of the highest quality, 'sashimi' grade Albacore tuna, which are line caught, choosing the young, smaller sized fish to reduce mercury levels to very, very low levels. In fact, lower than mercury levels found in many vegatables. This large can also affords a huge 7.5 oz portion of solid roasted tuna, packed in it's own rich Omega-3 oil in a delicious, rich natural broth, nothing added but a little salt.
You'll find yourself liking this tuna so much that you'll eat it directly out of the can. It's fantastic broke up on salads, or made into a delicious tuna sandwich, needing only a fraction of the mayonaise that you would use.
Get it by the case and save, substantially. It's really a bargain when you add everything up, the outstanding, quality, the excellent taste, the large size and weight, and knowing that you're treating yourself and...
Read moreThe only bad marks on Katy's I read below dealt with a surly "man" behind the counter, and they were all bitching about "customer service." While they may not have liked the "man", I'll bet they all got exactly what they asked for, that the quality was superb and that--all griping aside--they would all go back for more given the opportunity. Attitude, politeness and courtesy matter when you're in a boutique or a restaurant; when you go to a fish market, all you should want is fresh fish at a reasonable price, and in this Katy's delivers time and again.
I lived in Trinidad for years, and while I had periodic unpleasant encounters with the "man" (yes, he's even surly with locals), the fish was always excellent and as fresh as could be. This is one fish market that never smells fishy. Best of all, they get their Dungeness crabs right off the boats in Trinidad Bay, and sell them for a good price. Unlike Dungies you buy in the big city, these are not lethargic and on the verge of keeling over dead. If you pick up one of Katy's crabs, watch your fingers, and whatever you do don't hold it anywhere near...

I had a very disappointing experience with Katy’s in Trinidad, California. I called to inquire about shipping fresh crab to a friend in Las Vegas, and the person I spoke to, a man, was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I asked a few questions about the shipping process, he abruptly told me that shipping crab was too dangerous and hung up the phone on me!
While I understand that shipping crab may not be feasible, there is no excuse for such rude and unprofessional behavior. This experience has left a negative impression, and I will not be purchasing anything from this store in the future. I hope they take this feedback seriously and work on improving their customer service.
That’s a lie, your number is a landline, and you hung up the phone on me. Why would I look on your website to find out if you could ship crab? I’m sorry for the owners unfortunate health problems, still no excuse for being rude as hell. After looking at the reviews, looks like the owner has a problem with his manners,...
