Typical array of big box stores which are already plentiful in the immediate area, all crammed tightly into a strip mall design. Anchored by Walmart and home depot. With the liquor store in the middle. The rest of the stores are your standard lower end/bargain basement retailers, a few mobile phone stores, a couple fast food joints, niche retailers such as an auto parts stores, a dollar store, a discount shoe store, a convenience store with a gas station, a sit down pizza eatery and a frozen yogurt shop.
Not a single grocery store, or coffee shop, nothing new to offer the community at all. Not like I expect a whole foods or a Wegmans but is it too much to ask for a trader Joes for crying out loud? How bout a taphouse or a cheesecake factory even? Not one decent sit down chain restaurant in Levittown, and no one thinks the town center would be a place that could use one? There is no initiatives to bring new business to town so they scraped together whatever they could get in the fastest time possible to ensure Walmart was able to adhere to THEIR plans for improvement but no thought to our own.
This center is no longer new, but it shouldn't look so old and run down already.
I was so disappointed in the generic, concrete jungle design when it was proposed. It is so easy to add even minimal areas of attractive and usable green space- instead, to humour those who insisted on it, they threw a thoughtless swath of green grass between the road and the parking lot, which is not even bothered to be maintained, and allowed to grow into an attractive rodent and insect haven every summer. We didn't need topiaries and formal gardens, but was it too much to ask for just a planter or two here and there?
The only thing accessorising this depressed looking strip center is the millions of splatters of seagull droppings, covering literally everything, like a diseased Jackson Pollack brought to life.
Why is a strip mall in levittown attracting seagulls, you ask? Because the illustrious Levittown Center is of course, directly adjacent (right across the street) to Waste Management's garbage dump, which has passed its lifetime expectancy but after local leaders signed off on an extension, continues to grow bigger, and remain in operation for another decade. Punting plans for turning the retired dump into some type of attraction meant to improve the site, such as a seasonal ski area, as discussed when dangling the contract approval so many years ago, it will never come to fruition, but will cast its late day shadow over L-town center daily.
How truly insulting to all who live, work and raise families in Levittown, that our town leaders signed off on a redevelopment project that legitimately reduced the town's desirability.
They had a real chance to put in a retail and dining complex like the recent Shoppes at Village Green, Warrington's walkable retail and dining hamlet nestled among landscaped garden courtyards, with mid range sit down restaurants, and a public green for mixed use functions such as farmer market space, outdoor movie showings, and a variety of social, lifestyle, health and wellness instructionals, such as outdoor yoga, cardio, and senior fitness, art technique tutorials such as water coloring, pottery, & jewelry making, and a meeting area for professional networking events. My grandparents were the first generation to settle into Levittown. My husband and I are raising our family's fourth generation in Levittown.
We keep hoping to see our elected leaders create solutions, anyone intent on building town pride, must start with providing areas we can be proud of.
Besides the new municipal park and amphitheater, Levittown's infrastructure, public green spaces, business and commerce are all truly in need of freshening.
Between Levittown's 'town center' and the derelict looking businesses making up 'Five points" a clean up and modernization are sorely needed. You can't build pride in our neighbourhoods without first providing public space we can be proud of... Clean it up...

Read moreI have been doing curbside pickup at Walmart since COVID started and I absolutely love it! The employees are always so polite and friendly. They even help each other out if someone has a huge curbside order. I love the new feature to check in when you are on your way and then tell them when you have parked. It can be quite busy at certain times, but I rarely wait long since the extra feature began. Even if I have checked in, someone who just finished an order will come to my car and ask my name. The only one thing I would not recommend is buying fresh produce thru curbside. It's rarely fresh lol. I have actually had to go online and request a refund a few times due to it already being spoiled. Not sure if they are told to grab the ugliest fruits n veggies bc we don't walk in the store to pick our own? Lol jk. I have medical issues so cannot be around big crowds and honestly don't know why more people don't use curbside due to convenience and no sticker shock at cash register. Plus you don't walk into the store for one thing and come out...
