I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED THIS EVENING. IT WAS MY FIRST INTRODUCTION TO THIS STORE BEING IM BRAND NEW TO THE AREA. ITS ALMOST 6PM COMING IN FROM BAKERSFIELD , HAD A VERY LONG DAY. . MY BOYFRIEND WANTED TO INTRODUCE ME TO THE STORE AND WE FIGURED THEY DIDN'T LOOK TOO BUSY SO WE WENT AHEAD AND WENT IN. WE FOUND A FEW ITEMS TO THE LEFT , LIKE CRAFTS AND PLASTER OF PARIS. WE ASKED IF WE COULD SET THE ITEMS ON THE GLASS COUNTER NEAR THE REGISTERS , AND THE TWO CASHIERS SAID " SURE" THEN MY BOYFRIEND WALKED ME THRU THE ENTIRE STORE SHOWING OFF ALL THE BARGIN DEALS THEY HAVE. ONCE WE WERE DONE SHOPPING FOR THE FOOD ITEMS WE RETURN TO THE GLASS COUNTER WHERE WE WERE TOLD IT WAS OKAY TO LEAVE OUR NON-FOOD ITEMS . THE CASHIER SEEN US AND BEFORE WE COULD ASK " WHERE ARE OUR ITEMS" SHE TOLD US " I MOVED YOUR ITEMS TO THIS SIDE " SO WE WENT TO HER REGISTER SHE RANG US UP WITH THE STUFF THAT WE GET OUR FOOD ITEMS AND THEN WE ASKED HER ABOUT THE OUR NON-FOOD ITEMS AND SHE SAID SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO THEM. WE COULDNT BELIEVE WHAT SHE HAD JUST SAID. OF COURSE WE WERE INTERESTED IN BUYING THE ITEMS SO WE KIND OF ASKED HER AND ARGUED BUT AS WE WERE WALKING OUT OF THE STORE BOTH OF THE CASHIER GIRLS YELLED OUT OBSCENITIES TO US. ADDRESSING ME , THE FEMALE , FOR A FIST FIGHT!!! WOW! HOW HURTFUL , AND OBSURD . I CANNOT GRASP THE REALITY OF THIS EXPERIENCE . I SURELY HOPE THAT THE REST OF TURLOCK ISNT LIKE THESE GIRLS AT POP'S. SUCH A SAD WAY TO HANDLE SOMEONE ELSE BUISNESS. MY GOODNESS....
Read moreI’ve been going here for a few years but of course with inflation the prices are starting to suck. There used to be an Asian man with tattoos walking around who looked like he owned the business. That’s when I remember prices being affordable and it actually being an enjoyable time here. I went this past weekend and noticed that I got overcharged. ($4.99) for paper bags that I never purchased. I came back after I checked the receipt. They refunded me in cash when I paid credit. They acted like they had no idea how it happened. And mentioned it happened before that same day. Then why not do something about it? Seems like illegal practices to me. After leaving again I double check the prices and I got overcharged on 2 other items. I asked for a refund and they said final sale. When the box that was priced was WRONG. The older woman said she’ll fix the price on the bin. Unbelievable. Now this place has a lot of Latinos and I think that’s where this place is going downhill. I’m half Mexican and literally hate to see this happening to this store. They literally rescanned all of the items and acted like I was in the wrong for getting a refund in the first place. They were literally $5 off from a false charge. The younger woman gave a random number for CRV. So definitely double check your receipts! And items or else they can give a fake number for recyclables. Literally they scan everything fast so you get distracted and when you bring it to their attention it’s your fault....
Read moreWhen I look at the other posts for this store you get a sense that people want to like it because you can get some very decent deals here, but you come away feeling like it could be more, whether that included selection, customer service, friendliness of staff, cleanliness, etc. I understand that this isn't a conventional supermarket in terms of having fresh departments or items carried continuously. It is a salvage retailer, buying things others get rid of for whatever reason. That said, you need to exercise caution when selecting merchandise as it can be distressed beyond usability or out of code. Also you can often get the same thing at similar pricing when it's on sale at a regular retailer if you know your prices. And I have picked up boxed items that had bugs as others have said, or found items that are seriously out of their code date. They need to do a better job of policing that, and could use a little more organization for how they place merchandise in the store. But every time I shop here I always purchase something. And with their recent expansion they have added some new categories of products, and even put up some vertical shelving units to better organize the merchandise, instead of digging through pallets, even though the bulk of things are still displayed like that. I've come to look at it as a treasure hunt; you go in not knowing exactly what you'll find but often being...
