This is an unbiased review based on my 7-day free trail. My time of workout was in the 5am-6am hours. I will mention I have worked out at numerous facilities in my almost 20 years of fitness.
First impressions: Upon arrival the first day, I checked in at the front desk. Checking was easy, only a couple of questions, and then he said I was good to go. I had to ask him to point me in the direction of the locker rooms. It would've been nice to have at least been offered a tour, or some basic gym information.
When walking back to the locker room, I was impressed with the facility. It was large, with a lot of equipment. I had previously read reviews (and heard stories) of how dirty this gym was... not today!
When I got to the bathroom/locker room I did notice that there were only 2 restroom stalls, and only 3 showers (+ 1 handicap shower). This was a concern as the gym does get pretty crowded. The first shower I used had a busted head, so I was only able to get half the water on me. The next day, a different shower I used had a very slow drain, so water began to puddle over my shower shoes and over my feet.
Throughout the week: Monday and Tuesday were pretty crowded. There were a lot of people working out, but most of them seemed to know what they were doing. The rest of the week attendance dwindled, and by Friday it was nice. What I did notice is that most people do not rerack their weights. It seems to be the norm for them to just get up and walk away. This leads to confusion when you enter the area and are trying to see what is in use, and what is not. It also makes it hard to find weights for the equipment you are currently using.
Hydro-massage/tanning Thursday morning I happened to notice an area that I had not noticed before. I asked the staff what it was and was told about the massage and tanning area. Again, Had I been offered a tour to be shown what the gym had to offer, I would've already known about this. Nevertheless, I took advantage of the hydro-massage chairs, and it was relaxing after a workout.
All in all, I would say that this is a nice facility with good equipment. But the other aspects do come into play when giving...
Read moreTuscaloosa’s Crunch Fitness Gym opened in 2018 everything was on point new equipment, friendly staff, clean facility. The reopening of the gym after the shut down of the pandemic has alot to be desired. The staff continues to have friendly, helpful staff but the cleanliness has gone down.
The translucent covers that go over the toilet paper dispensers are not present. At times there is toilet paper/trash covering the floor, no hand soap in the restrooms. Once I picked up a toilet paper roll and on the side there was blood(utter disgust.) Sometimes there is no paper available at the cleaning stations.
Equipment needs to fixed. This includes the hydromassage equipment, treadmills, sliding doors.
The ease of entrance is scary, instead of scanning our tags at the front countertop. I would like to see a security system were we scan our tags to enter the facility. I have seen and been hassled by homeless/panhandlers before.
If it was not for the babysitting services I would not pay for the Peak Results membership. The young ladies that work there are friendly and patient. Even though there is a babysitting services I would warn parents there are times when Crunch has been forced to use one of the floor employees which are usually men, this has made me uncomfortable. Also afternoons, holidays and weekends babysitting services, can get very crowded and they either have only one person or two overseeing babies, toddlers and bigger children all in a very crowded room. I don’t know if babysitting services are understaffed or underpaid but it needs to better for the safety of the children. Also I would like to see a separate room to separate the very small ones from the older ones, I am sure something can be done to invest in renovating the babysitting room into two separate rooms.
Please Crunch do not take offense and reinvest in your people, in your business. Listen to...

When I'm at crunch, I'm working out with other PAYING MEMBERS! Do better at this establishment. Your management is horrible and that is why there is always turnover and negative complaints on a consistent basis. Your vague response is shameful. I don't care who approaches me from your staff, they should learn respect.
On March 25, while working, my friends and i were literally being watched like a hawk by Quincy, the director of personal training. The next day while checking in, I was approached by Quincy at the front desk asking if I was a trainer. He then goes on to tell me I'm not allowed to train people when he clearly saw me working out the day before when he refused to take he eyes off of us(yuck). He stated that he's kicking people out that train, further insinuating that I'm training when again, he clearly saw us working out. His disposition was rude and argumentative.
After he confronted me, I approached the GM, Tanner asking if there was a corporate contact. He replied that he was a third party and I needed to go through him. As I began speaking to him, Quincy walked up and began interrupting our conversation. Tanner then began questioning me (at the front desk while people are walking in)asking if I'm giving direction to those i workout with and if I'm telling them how to workout. Tanner was extremely dismissive and lacks any and all problem solving skills. I immeasurably canceled my membership bc I will not workout in an environment where I feel uncomfortable, watched...
