Old Mill Stream RV Resort IS NOT rally friendly! Nor is it RV friendly! Nor is it pet friendly! Actually, I would not call Old Mill Stream an RV resort at all. It is a trailer park! And they should rename themselves as such and quit soliciting RV groups to come!||We were signed up for an FMCA group rally. The owners/managers did not make it clear to our rally hosts that dogs over 40 pounds were not allowed. (Had they done so, they would not have scheduled a rally there.) They claim the reason is insurance, but I’ve never heard of such before. Apparently the owners of this facility are not aware that 70% of coach owners travel with their pets; and the ability to travel with their pets is one of the major reasons they own a coach, Anyway, I digress. So one of our coaches immediately had to find another campground to stay at. After driving 6 hours to the rally, my husband and I were also informed that we were not welcome if our dog was over 40 pounds and they would use a scale if they had to. But, because we wanted to enjoy our rally, we opted to stay. We called a cousin, 40 miles away and asked if she would babysit our 55 pound lab while we were at the rally. She agreed and we drove the 40 miles there and back to deliver the dog. This was only the beginning of our troubles. For those of us who did have dogs that successfully met the weight requirement, they found that dogs were not allowed in most of the park.||Secondly, the rally area is a patch of grass. Even though they advertise full hookups….that’s not the case in the rally area. It is electricity and water only….no sewage. Again, had we known that there was no sewage except for dump stations we would not have opted for this campground. Additionally, as soon as we got to our sight, the campground police showed up to make sure were did not have an overweight dog on board. Once again showing us how unfriendly this campground, I mean trailer park, can be.||The next morning we left because our dog was having major anxiety issues being at my cousins house. You see, she’s a rescue, and I guess she thought she’d been abandoned again. We went up the road 6 miles to Southern Palms. They welcomed us and our dog with open arms. They were also very, very friendly and professional at check-in.||SO, my suggestion is that Old Mill Stream rename itself Old Mill Stream Trailer Park! Because you certainly do not like people who travel in RV’s. Please remove pet friendly and full hookup from any advertisements before you get sued. Also remove the statements about large spacious lots. Finally, you do not have small town country charm! Don’t worry about us, we won’t be back. We have...
Read moreWe stayed at Olde Mill Stream recently for a week. First the good: For a park filled with northerners they were all friendly. We have stayed in long term parks before and usually find them very "clique-sh". Heck, 3 people stopped when we were setting up camp and said "welcome to Florida"; we're born/raised in Florida! Staff was very pleasant and although we did not participate in activities or use their facilities, we found the park to be neat although campers are packed in very close. Negatives: I was very disappointed in our site. I don't know the situation, but our site had a concrete pad and newly dumped sand next to it that was barely leveled out and was where we had to set up our camper. Because the sand was not rolled down, after a couple days our camper had settled and we had to re-level the camper. Setting up was muddy and sand was always everywhere on the site. No picnic table, although the long termers all seemed to have one. Somehow we were led to believe cable tv was available. Nope, only to long term campers through the local cable provider. We were able to pick up stations on our antenna tho. We felt our site was not at all worth the fee they charge for a weekly stay. This would be "the hot" place to stay if your a northerner and will be here for the "season". If you're only going to be there a week or so I'd look for another place that offers the usual amenities...
Read moreFirst - I haven't stayed here, but my experience visiting was positive. We happened to drive by last winter and stopped in just to see they place. The front office was beyond helpful and we were given a tour of the property by a very informative volunteer who stays there in the winter. We were struck by several things and have reserved a short (2 month) stay for this coming winter to try it out. It's very clean and organized beyond what we are used to. ||The old rally area is being converted into campsites and we will be in that area when it's finished. If it's anything like the original park it will be great. We'll see about that tho. and that's the main reason for a 4 star rating. ||While on our tour we met several guests who appeared very pleased with Olde Mill. Their attitude about the place was a big influence in our decisions. ||We've stayed at state parks and upscale private parks. One thing you can judge a park from is the attitude of those staying there and Olde Mill meets that expectation.||I reserve the right to modify my opinion after we stay there, but I don't expect it will change.||Oh yes -- it's close enough to the madness, but also close to the national forest. That's a big...
