I have been a customer of Lester Martin Jewelers for approximately 6 years. For several years, I came in simply to get a new watch battery or mechanism for my self-winding watches. Whenever I walked into the store, I was always greeted by Marty and his staff with warmth and a smile, and could truly see that they were there to help me, regardless of what I needed. I was always treated with the same courteousness and patience as someone coming in to purchase a ruby. The staff’s appreciation for their customers – regardless of their budget or needs - was quite apparent and comforting. I always knew I’d be coming back to Lester Martin Jewelers when I was ready to buy jewelry.

Before long it was time for me to purchase an engagement ring for my fiancé. Marty scheduled a time to meet with me so that he could devote the time necessary to allow me to make a good decision and purchase what I wanted. Marty took the time to explain the pros and cons of the various designs and explained the different diamond shapes and how some shapes were better for some rings while other shapes worked better with other ring designs. He never pressured me or wavered in his commitment to help me. He simply wanted to ensure I would make the best decision possible – one that I’d be happy making based on my budget and preferences. When I picked up the ring several weeks later, simply put, it was amazing. It was exactly what Marty and I discussed. Best of all, my fiancé loved it.

My fiancé and I recently returned to Lester Martin Jewelers to choose our wedding bands. Marty and Jackie were extremely helpful and patient as they showed us several catalogues from which we could choose a ring (or at least get a concept of what we’d want Marty to create), and helped us narrow down our choices. Again, Marty showed is professional and technical knowledge as he explained how he would be modifying my ring and making my fiance’s intricate ring from scratch. Marty was easy and extremely pleasant to work with – always listening to our preferences and answering our questions fully. When we picked up the rings three weeks later, we were beyond pleased. The rings were magnificent – even nicer than we could imagine them to be. The personal attention and active listening Marty showed throughout the process – for both the engagement ring and the wedding bands - allowed us to get superior products at a very fair and affordable price. The rings are absolutely beautiful, unique, and completely to our liking. We were (and are) very impressed with Lester-Martin Jewelers, especially with Marty, and won’t hesitate to go back to Marty when we’re ready for another piece of fine jewelry. My husband and I have been married for 53 years and imagine our extreme sadness to have had his recently-resized wedding band slip off his finger on a holiday Center City shopping trip. We called SEPTA, the city’s lost and found, a friend in Parks and Recreation at City Hall, The Christmas Village, Reading Terminal Market, and restaurants we had visited to see if his wedding band had turned up. We were not successful. Then we decided to return to Lester Martin Jewelers, where we had gotten our rings resized two months prior, to see if they could help us. They shared in our sadness and stepped right up to see what they could do in finding my husband a replacement ring. Robin found a gold wedding band that looked fairly close to my husband’s original ring and, after measuring his finger for a smaller size, ordered the replacement ring with my name engraved inside. We were very pleased with the kindnesses of Marty, Pamela, and Robin and appreciated how they adjusted our bill. Robin told us that the original wedding band was estimated to have cost $200 in 1971, while the increase in the gold standard made his new ring worth over $1000. They recommended that our insurance agent be told about my husband’s ring’s “mysterious disappearance” in the hopes that the new wedding band would be covered by our policy. It was. Lester Martin Jewelers is the BEST jeweler for so many reasons. Marty (the owner) is not only extremely kind, he is extremely honest and reputable. I have always trusted him to tell me the truth regarding any piece of jewelry that I already own or considering as a purchase. He remembers everyone by name and treats people as a friend-not just a customer. More importantly, I've come to learn that he is quite philanthropic and community oriented. He has ridden the Multiple Sclerosis Society's "Bike MS: City to Shore Ride" and is currently fostering a German Shepherd dog for an active duty military dog owner who has been deployed.

The staff members take their cue from Marty-they are all extremely kind and knowledgeable. They will spend as much time as necessary (very patient!) w/o any pressure. I've known Robin specifically for years-her taste is impeccable. I've brought in old pieces of jewelry or loose stones that I would never wear and her amazing "mind's eye" can redesign something incredibly different and beautiful in a matter of minutes.
