Full Metal Jacket Gun Range - Axe Throwing — Local services in Upper Township

I had no experience with guns, in fact had been against having one in the house for most of my life. But things are getting scary out there, and I felt I needed to be able to protect my family if need be.

I started with Betty's Ladies Firearm 2 hour class, which included classroom and shooting. She's a great instructor and helped me feel more comfortable handling a gun. I also had a private lesson from Betty, which IMO is a great deal, it doesn't cost much more than renting a gun and buying ammunition, except I had someone there to help with jams or figuring out how to improve accuracy.

I had to change instructors because Betty doesn't work on the one night I can get there, so then I had private lessons from Pat. He is awesome,, passionate about gun education and very thorough. Between phone calls and looking at various pistols in the store (I have arthritis in my hands, so many of the pistols I struggled with because I lacked the strength required to use them properly) he spent much more time with me than he needed to, and he even brought his personal pistols for me to try (my one small complaint would be that the rentals aren't all in the best condition but that's probably the case anywhere multiple people are using the pistols).

Without his help, I'd have been very confused on what pistols were best for me. In fact before Pat, I asked for suggestions on a forum and got over 600 replies, so I was more confused than ever.

Yesterday I took Pat's 5 hour NRA certified First Steps Pistol class. It was well worth the money and time. I feel a lot more comfortable handling the pistols now, and knowing I am going to be safe with my purchase. I plan to take more in the coming weeks and months, because I feel the responsibility of owning a forearm seriously.

We were on vacation and drove by Full Metal Jacket Gun Range. I am not a gun enthusiast but have always been curious about them and possibly owning one for personal and home protection. I wanted some education on different types of firearms and how to handle them safely before considering such a big decision for me and my family. So, we called FMJ for information about scheduling some instruction for me and my boys, 18 & 19 years old.

After speaking at length with Pat Gallelli we scheduled some classroom and range time. When we arrived at our scheduled time we found the facility to be very clean and well organized and the staff very welcoming. Pat took us back to a classroom where he taught us about a few different types of handguns and how to handle them safely. We used dummy cartridges to load the magazines, learned how to clear the guns safely, and how to handle them to ensure the safety of ourselves and those around us.

After classroom training, we watched a short video on range safety that pulled things together for us before moving to the range for some actual hands -on instruction. Going into the range I felt much more confident in our abilities to handle and fire the guns. Pat was joined by Rick, who assisted us in the classroom and in the range. Between both of them, we had a great time. They took time to teach us how to properly grip, aim and fire different guns. With each round I felt less nervous and we all did surprisingly well. April 9 2025 Defensive Shooter 2 Class with Instructor Pat Gallelli As mentioned before Pat is extremely knowledgeable and professional. The advanced drills encompassing shooting, moving with multiple targets and timing drills really give a perspective of real life challenges one could face on the street.
