I have been coming to this place since I moved back to Birmingham in December. Price was very reasonable. Everything had been going good until they hired a new receptionist name Clare who clearly doesn't know what she's doing. My appt was at 9a. I called as soon as they opened to let them know that I would be 5-10 mins late due to the severe thunderstorm. (37 weeks pregnant, I'm not going to drive like a bat out of hell all the way across town) Clare said for me to get there as soon as I could & they would work something out. I got there at 915a she checked me in & told me my appt was at 920. I assumed they switched my time since I was late, right? I waited for about 5 mins before Well another guest was checked in & she got called back within 2 mins. Natalie said that she didn't know I was waiting & she had already called her client to the back. I informed her that I had a 10a appt & if they could have me finish prior then I didn't mind waiting. She never came back to the front. So Its now 930a I asked Clare what was the plan (since I sat there for another 5 mins) & she told me "you're gonna wait another 5-10 mins & Natalie will be with you) Marci had just told her not to switch me around and it would only be 5-10mins. Well it's 950a now & Natalie just came back to the front & they're still discussing what to do with me. But not communicating with me AT ALL! I listened for 3 more mins before I just got up and walked out. I understand that I was 15 mins late, but 1) I called ahead of time to inform them 2) when I got there I was told my appt was at 920a for Mekeia. 3) if i wasn't going to be able to be served then just tell me that . don't have me just sitting there waiting & then tell me what I'm "Going To Do" . & not communicate with me at all. Oh I forgot to mention that Clare claims she had my name wrong. Not paying attention to detail, not using common sense, nor providing great customer service. I was a customer of wax by Marci for about year, and am throughly disappointed with their customer service and attitude of their check in workers. I was late to my most recent appointment , to which I was told I would have to reschedule. Although the traffic that day was out of my control, I understood and agreed to rebook. I was then told I would have to pay ANOTHER $30 to rebook as a deposit , and would lose my prior deposit. At that point , I asked what other options there were, or , if as a loyal client I could be allowed to rebook free of charge just this once. The girl at the desk was overall just not pleasant, rude , and acted as if somehow I was ridiculous for not wanting to pay another $30 in this economy. She told me I could wait and see . While waiting, I witnessed another client be late for their appointment, and , instead of allowing me to go through with my appointment because THAT client was late , the waxer then took a DIFFERENT person early . Overall, I did not like how the situation was handled or how I was treated, Iām very big on loyalty and it shows they care more about a dollar than their clients . When I checked out, I was told that they did not have my deposit. I said thatās impossible because Iāve been coming here a really long time and they wouldnāt have booked my appointment without the deposit. She said we donāt have it and didnāt have any explanation for why they didnāt. So she charged me AGAIN $45 for a deposit. I was annoyed to say the least. I have not missed or been late or failed to cancel an appointment in time. I donāt mind paying the deposit, but this is not okay. I was very upset that this happened because I really do think this is a great waxing spot. However, I have over 6k views on this review so I would be remiss by not mentioning it. The original review was also five stars, but this is not 5 star customer service. So, my advice is to keep an eye on your deposit, or find somewhere else. I have since started going to a different wax provider.

Fantastic spot for waxing. They fill up quickly in the summer so book early to make sure you get an appointment. Prices are super reasonable and I recommend the Brazilian or full body special. They do sugaring which is THE best!!! I have not been to a waxing place that uses sugaring for at least ten years. Itās less painful and better for your skin.
